Things over the past year that Smitty has done that don't correspond to the Gettleman style

Recommended Posts

Cam is definitely fiery. Does no one remember cam nearly chewing off that ref's head? I mean if fiery means just talking a lot of poo on camera then there are very few "fiery" people in the nfl.

The Problem was: Steve Smith knew Jake wasn't going to be the unquestioned leader; highest paid player on the team, Product Pitchman, NFL Superstar, etc..  Jake wasn't a highly touted #1 pick/Saviour as well.

Cam had all that going on. So, totally different "Apples To Oranges" scenario. Cam probably had a lot to prove in the highly competitive Smith's eyes, as all rookies. And up until that point/2011, many believed SS was losing it till Cam arrived and helped revive his career. Being a proud veteran, I'm sure Steve didn't like that perception as well. In addition, Smith may have not respected the other Newton Era Panther receivers (except Olsen and Shockey), so always insisted upon/wanting the ball. Good for Steve's ego. But not good for Cam or the teams development. Jake threw to a younger circus catching Steve Smith. Easy decision there. Cam Newton did not

So there could have been various reasons why Steve Smith acted that way. This is nothing knew. RG3 is not the leader of the Redskins. Neither is Luck (despite what many wanna believe), or Wilson or Kaepernick (all for different or the same reasons).

This is quite normal in the REAL WORLD NFL when there are respected veterans already on the team as a young player/rookie arrives. If Gettleman is doing this for Cam (as the Giants did for another #1 pick, Eli in NY), then good for him/them!

Can't be simply about money...that would be too easy.

What? Actual text. No gif? Granted, you didn't spend a whole lot of time or energy on your comment. But...you did comment using actual words. I kinda missed the gifs.

Not that you don't have something to say. Normally anywho. Ah hellz, nvm.

Then what do I see. Your next post was a gif, no comment, just the gif. I guess I don't really have a point.

Look, I know this is beating a dead horse territory, but I was doing some Youtube searches to find some good Smitty highlights to give me some motivation while taking a procrastination break, and I ran in to a lot of videos within the past year of Smitty doing some stuff that I don't think corresponds with Dave Gettleman's philosophies. It really put some perspective and evidence supporting that he was cut more for locker room reasons.

It just seems to me like Smitty got more attention for his "fired up" style lately than he has since he got the publicity for fighting his teammates, which I firmly believe he's grown above.

This point is brought up, but when you see video after video on Youtube of one player, it puts things into perspective.

1. Says he wouldn't want Sanchez throwing a paper bag sandwich. True? Yes. Good for camera? No.

There is a huge difference between Jake and Smitty vs Cam and Smitty.

Jake had something I don't know what to call it other than fire. Smitty has that too. Thats why they respected each other so much.

Cam has fun, he's not so serious or "fiery" This is what I feel led to Smitty appearing to "hold Cam back" in a leadership role.

Now all the "fire" is on the other side of the ball and its time to see if Cam can do this his way.

Jake and 89 were different. Delhomme had fire (early on, lost some IMO after 07).

89's fire is noticeably different. He sees red.

Cam has shown fire. Cam has shown passion. He is still a big kid though. As the years go by I think it will show more by the simple fact the fun kid will slowly disappear
