Things over the past year that Smitty has done that don't correspond to the Gettleman style

See you're misunderstanding. I personally loved it, he's OUR guy. But management and coaching? I can see why it would get to them. All I was doing was saying that.

 

But his drops did send a message to me. Especially in Seattle. But so did the catch in Miami. Idk, it was an up and down year. Like I said, I wouldnt've done it.

the OP is showing what would have rustled Gettlemans feathers. There is a major difference.

 

fwiw. i loved every fuging second of this past season and smitty's antics. his last season as a panther is something i will remember for the rest of my life. think about all the great moments he had this past year. his last year as a panther.

 

I think Gettleman wants Cam in control of his recievers. To be the top dog so to speak. to be the general. There was no reigning in smitty. everyone knows that.

 

 

I have a major problem with this mentality that Cam can't be the "top dog so to speak".

 

I saw no problem with Jake getting us to a Super Bowl or the NFC Championship game with Smitty on the field.

I can get that. Thats not the issue though. Smith was on his way out. Has a few years left. Jake and Cam are not the same people. I think Gettleman wants Cam to groom this new set of receivers.

 

I think they want Cam to have total control of everything. And i'm telling you I believe in this guy more than any panther player thats ever been here. More than smitty. We all know smitty's personality and his "throw me the fuging ball" routine. I have loved it. But give Cam the full authority where every single person in that huddle is looking at him as the #1 leader and watch this kid blossom. He is that special. It's his time to be the sole voice of this panther offense.

Was there a influx of "why we shouldn't have cut Smitty" threads lately? ?

It seem like most people have moved on. So why the need to over labor the point??

because he was the greatest panther of all time?

 

a lot of the griping has been 13 year old teenage girl poo. the OP actually made a thread about why Gettleman and the FO decided to move on from Smitty with videos and poo. this is literally like one of the best threads about the move.

 

but then you get the "yea lets trash the GOAT panther" crowd getting all butthurt. but the truth of the matter is that this is more than likely part of the reason why they decided to move on from him (as well as financially).

 

this move will be talked about for as long as we live kkl

I think most rational fans understood why the move was made after the shock of it wore off.

There's no shock here, I just thought it was interesting. It's really not irrational at all. Here I am searching for Smitty highlights, and there was a whole lot of these videos.

 

Nothing new or groundbreaking. I just figured a few people would find it interesting to have everything in one place, because that fact is it's reality.

 

I love 89, grew up loving him and it ain't changing. Like I said, he'll forever be our guy.

 

It also wasn't necessarily my opinion, but it's certainly worth noting. This had to weigh in the FO's mind, how could it not? Why would they cut the guy for no immediate financial gain otherwise instead of waiting and paying the 7 mil that they aren't really getting back?  It's worth a thread
