Thomas DeCoud Visiting Monday

My birds cut the dude ASAP with 0 backup plan at FS. That should tell you all you need to know.

Yeah, but you also cut Abraham for Osi. Would you have felt the same way had you cut him last year?

I think you saved 4-5 mill too.

Please enlighten me.

What other players having a below avg. year made the pro bowl?

And please don't show me anything PFF does I care less about them and their site.

Top of my head?  Fletcher, DeCoud, Joesph. I can get back to you with more. But for you,  if that rare player is below average and makes it how do you personally determine that?

Pro Bowlers tend to favor guys on winning teams, ATL were that. They had a highly rated D that year but still not a lot of pass rush outside Abraham. He'll likely have the chance to look better than he ever has sitting back in zone and reading the D.

I think only 1 third is fan votes. another third players and the last third coaches. So the general feeling of the populous was that he had a good year. Yeah, DB's get acknowledged for picks and DE's for sacks.

I think he has shown more talent than Mitchell had prior to getting here. I thought Mitchell would just be a role player used for safety blitzes and as a gunner but he became so much more. We'll see.

The thing is only 13 a year teams play and watch any one player. And even from those teams only certain positions are going to concerns themselves with DeCoud. IMO The portion of players/ coaches who can legitimately say how good DeCoud may or may not be is outnumbered by those who can't.

DeCoud is better then Mitchell based on their entire careers, I don't disagree.

London Fletcher:

13th in tackles made

Lowest amount of Run Stops

2nd most missed tackles

Most yards allowed in coverage per snap.

18th best is pass rush percentage

32nd in tackling efficiency

Great player for years no question but not a good year.

You do realize coaches and players watch a lot of tape during the year?

Definitely, but IMO only certain positions and for certain teams. I mean for example are any of the offensive/ defensive linemen in the AFC ( except perhaps for the one division that plays them) watching a lot, if any tape on DeCoud? Doubt it.

Lies, damn lies and statistics. He had 5 int's as a MLB, 3 sacks, 11 PD's . 2nd team all pro. He has had a solid a career as you could hope for.

He has been the glue that has held that shitty D together for years.

If you honestly believe Fletcher didn't have a good year I don't know what to say.

I'm sure you can find negative stats for Keek last year if you wanted too. Still won DPOY.

The AFMB was livid when Abe was released. DeCoud? Celebratory thread pinned to the top of the main board.

Not saying he doesn't have a chance to turn it around playing behind one of the league's best 2 or 3 front sevens, but he sucked ass last year.
