Different roles. Harper would be taking the SS spot Mikell filled. DeCoud is a better deep zone guy, taking Mitchells FS spot if he starts.

bring him in for competition at the least, so much godfrey hate but a healthy godfrey was playing good football,just another hurney bad contract not really his fault.

Harper really seems a bit of a head scratcher. That will be a real testament to the FO if we get something decent out of him.

 

Didn't PFF have him rated as the worst coverage safety two years in a row. Hopefully his role is limited to the LOS.

 

Still, those 2 guys have been to the pro bowl before. MItchell and Ginn were practically given up on by the NFL.

Exactly and it makes total sense. DeCoud, by the looks of Falcons boards, is very comparable to Godfrey in talent vs. frustration vs. salary. As others have mentioned with out FA DB signings, they should be solid behind our front 7. Cut Godfrey and use that money to add a 6/1 cut player.

I like it... Our secondary is big! White,Cason and Harper all 6'1 and 200lbs. DeCoud is 6'2 and 190lbs.

Both DeCoud and Harper only 1-2 years removed from probowl. All 3... Harper, DeCoud and Cason all have 1 thing in common... They had a bad year last year but they all preformed fairly well through their careers.
