DeSean Jackson agrees to terms with Redskins

The definition of a game changer isn't a guy who touches the ball plenty of times...not sure how you came up with that.

Percy Harvin for example had how many touches in the Super Bowl? but he changed that game with his ability to take any touch he does get to the house.

That is what a game changer is...someone who can flip the score or have a dramatic impact on the game on 1 play from anywhere...not someone who gets 10 catches per game.

His play making ability on STs also add to his game changing ability.

The rest of the stuff I pretty much agree with but you can't, with a straight face, say Jackson isn't a game changer.

To piggy back off your last portion....his career WR stats aren't even all that impressive, it's his all around contributions that make him dangerous. He isn't going to be "the man" in Washington regardless of what his ego may say...that suites him much better, the explosive complimentary WR that demands attention.

If he were to come play for the Panthers as the supposed #1 WR then it would not have worked out, he's not that guy. I think some on here believe he could lead a WR squad...you obviously don't think that and it's true he isn't going to.

His yards per reception is REALLY good and he an explosive compliment to any offense, that's

Jackson's overall yardage looks great but almost 800 of those yards were in 5 games where he had a 100 yards or more.  His 2 biggest games from a yardage point of view where he got almost 200 yards a game they lost both those games.  Of the three they won where he got over 100 yards, he scored no more than 1 TD in any of them and may have instrumental in contributing largely in 2 of them.

He also had 5 games where he had less than 40 yards which they won 3 of them obviously not due to him.  So really he might have been a game changer in 3 or 4 games all year. In the playoffs he had 3 catches for 53 yards and 0 TDs.

As for his return yards, they were negligible and hardly worth mentioning.  I kick return for 10 yards and he averaged 5 yards a punt return on 14 returns.

No he was not a game changer in 2013 he was a good receiver who had some very good games and who disappeared in just as many games not showing when they needed him most in the playoffs.  One of the reasons they were willing to let him go was that they figured they could replace him with a cheaper guy who would cause less locker room problems.

LOL you saw where I left my other post off at "that's"...then I fell a sleep at the wheel I guess.

I am not only talking about 2013 though.

Let's take Harvin again sticking with the same example. Harvin has worse career stats overall than Jackson (and in others they are close) and you'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't think Harvin is a game changer.

It's the ability to take it to the house from anywhere and at anytime...they both have that. It doesn't matter how many times a year it happens as Harvin is oft injured. Still he's an oft injured game changer...

Lets talk about Harvin for a minute.  Was he a game changer in 2013??  I don't think so.  Does he have the skills to be a game changer?  Yes he does.  But was he a game changer?  No he wasn't.

I don't agree that potential is the same as actualized ability.  To be a game changing player you actually have to do it on a relatively consistent basis including coming up big in big time situations for me to see a player as a game changer.

When talking about a player in that way you look at more than the last game year...in this case 2013. Once again I said it goes beyond 2013 for each player. The fact that he has the skills to be a game changer....is more of what we are talking about.

Who said he was a game changer last year specifically? We are(well at least I am) talking about the skill-set of being able to take any play to the house. Not everyone can do that, very few can really and even less do it as consistently as you seem to be thinking...and on that note...I haven't seen you give an example of a game changer from your perspective...

Coming up in big time situations is clutch...not related to being the "game changing" type of player which we have just described as being the "home run threat". Even in my other posts I was talking about the type of player not just what he/they did in 2013.

The potential is why these guys are so sought after and it doesn't always pan out like Mike Wallace in Miami...but that is more about his contract than what he brings to the table. His skill-set is obviously highly sought after but just not for the money...which is definitely part of why DJ was let go and exactly why Miami already regrets the Wallace contract.

If we are talking about people with potential and not actualized ability then Ginn is an example of that more than Harvin/DJ...both of which have shown plenty of game changing ability on STs and Offense...

This league is about what have you done lately.  Injuries and other factors play a big enough role to say that you can't look at history to determine if a player is a game changer today.  Should we look back at Steve Smith's career to decide if he is a game changer today? He was a game changer in his prime.  Now he isn't.

Is Harvin a game changer now?  I would say the proof is on him to show he is.  Based on recent results which is what we have to go on right now, the answer is no.

BTW is Ginn a game changer?  I would say no he isn't.

Harvin and Jackson are good receivers but not game changers. Neither has done anything that I would consider changing the game. I guess Harvin approached that in concept with being a versatile offensive weapon. However in his best season he accounted for 967 yards receiving and 345 yards rusing with 8 total tds. That's pretty nice but I'm not sure that lives up to game changing.

Jordan was a game changer. Rice was a game changer. Tiger was a game changer. These guys aren't that IMO.

They are play makers sure but not game changers.
