Panthers workout DE Kony Ealy, and Proehl is @USC today

Nobody here is talking DE. Do you think Gettlemen is going to spend $30 million on DEs going into Cam's contract year? Someone is getting replaced. This reminds me of the Giants when they had the 2 best 4-3 DEs in football and they drafted Pierre-Paul.

The only way I see us keeping Hardy and Johnson next year is if Hardy stinks in 2014, driving his asking price down to about $6-7 m per year.

"You can't have enough pass rushers."

---somebody said that

I remember the giants doing that, g-man comes from the same school of thought "big men hell you compete"

Hardy seems more than likely to not be a Panther next year unless we can sign him to a long term deal

Johnson is paid handsomely to be an excellent DE and could be a cap casualty next.

I wouldn't be at all mad about a D-lineman in the 1st round. Even a DT wouldn't be a horrible pick. I am very content with BPA. Consider what we managed from last year's draft I trust whoever Gettleman picks.

If a pass rushing DE is the BPA, then I will absolutely have no problem if his name is called.  If we draft a DE at number 28, then we all know what's coming next (whether it be this off-season, or next).  If G-man is looking to get us out of cap hell come hell or high water, then I'm going to support him.

I've found that sometime it's better to just jump into the pool all-in than to pussy-foot around, then reluctantly ease into it.

Perhaps for you, but for DG he seems to be a viable option.

DG = Big Picture

BPA = Big Picture

So you're saying that if a QB is the highest rated prospect available on the Panthers board when we get to 28 that we're going to draft a QB in the first round? Or a MLB? No. We're not.

BPA has limits.

You don't reach because of need. But a pure BPA approach that disregards need completely doesn't work either. We have OG, OT, CB, S, WR that are all positions of need. Certainly we can find someone at 28 that fills one of those needs and isn't a "reach." If we only had one or two major holes to fill I'd say fine, BPA no matter the position (except QB, really), but that's not the case.

Jesus, I am not sure I would be ok initially with this pick, especially since we are so strong in that position.. Just feels like it would be a marty hurney type of move. Make a strengths strengthier...But I trust Gettleman. At least the pass Rush would be amazing. CJ, Star, Hardy, Ealy combo in some packages. That would be devastating.
