Plenty of players have their homes in different areas than where they play.  I believe Geoff Schwartz still lives in Charlotte during the off-season.

I wouldn't think too much of him house hunting... there are plenty of athletes that never played for any of our teams that end up living in Charlotte. So, even if he's working off of the franchise tender, I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to live here regardless...

NOW, the back and forth between he and Smitty seems like there is definitely something going on long-term. I don't see Smitty saying "congrats on the new money," celebrating a one-year deal.
