D. Newton: Rivera is right. We don't need a number 1 WR. / OK, OK...

OP, it looks like the only thing you did was stir the pot with Riveras quote of drafting a receiver. We have devolutioned to Neanderthals around here for the time being.

Well, that's OK. I guess we have to talk about something until the draft.  My whole point was that the definition/notion of a No. 1 receiver is overblown at worst, and somewhat useless at best.  Find a core of guys that can move the chains and fit within your scheme.

Would I like to have a beast that fits any scheme at any time? Sure.  The thing is, when you're picking later in the first round, you're not sure to get that guy, so being one of the better teams year after year, you have to do the best that you can to identify guys that will fit the way that you want to play the game.

Sure it does. You talked about bottom dweller teams not doing anything even though they draft WRs. Those teams have to find QBs first. Then the WRs can come along.

usually they do draft QB/WR combos. or one position in one draft, and then the other position in the next draft. but you point is taken. it takes at least an adequate QB to make talented receivers look good...
