John Ramsdell - Senior Offensive Assistant?

this could be huge for the offense.

very glad this happened.

might help negate the shula effect.

For the moment. It has out trended the Smitty fiasco. #1 on the intertube.

Almost as if they know 2014 will be a disaster offensively.

Makes me wonder who started this process? Shula and Ron talking, his name comes up. Next thing you know...

Nope.

I'm not one to mercilessly hammer Person, but my word there is so much wrong with his reporting on this story.

Between this with Person, and the actual signing of Ramsdell. It has put Smitty on the back burner. Maybe the first step in putting losing him in the rear view mirror?

Think people are taking this the wrong way. Honestly Shula called some good games and adjusted well, his downfall was he's not very creative. Maybe I've is here to improve that.

He adjusted well, and then adjusted back to what wasn't working. Which told me he just accidentally adjusted in the first place.

I like it.

The Martz connection might have Olsen a tad nervous.  Remember that is why we stole Olsen from the Bears because Martz didn't use the TE in his offense.

Those of us who remember the D. Coryell years in St. Louis and San Diego remember a high potent offense.   I would only think that type offense added to a Shula Running game could really turn into a hybrid offense.   You add the dimensions of an outstanding defense and the variable that Cam brings to an offense.  I can only envision more W's then L's.

WOW.   As an optimistic person I can only imagine an interesting offense to say the least.

considering the role gates played in san diego, i think olsen is feeling ok. he's now our number one receiver and cam's most famliar target. i see a big year for him.

Person is alerted by various huddlers on twitter.

11 minutes later he tweets the info as if he is reporting it.

Claims he knew two weeks ago.

Lol Person be trollin

Person's tweet says that Ramsdell "fills the spot created when offensive quality control coach Lance Taylor left for Stanford."

As mentioned, Taylor was actually the Assistant Receivers Coach.  And while I suppose it's possible he was pulling double duty as Offensive QC, but his team bio (link) certainly doesn't mention it.

And again, as mentioned, Ramsdell's title is "Senior Offensive Assistant", so he's certainly not a low level QC.

Oy

i think he may have actually kniwn about the hire, but had no clue who he is so he didn't think it was a big deal. this isn't exactly jay glazer we've got. in fact i'd be surprised if person new who jay glazer was.

The thing we can all learn from this is that our beat writers are not very good at their job. It's pretty obvious if you follow any other teams' writers (Aaron Wilson, Mary Kay Cabot, John McClain, etc) just how little our writers scoop.

I hate Darin Gantt, but at least he would break some news.

And we say apparently, because it came out in about the most accidental, new media way possible.

Via Bill Voth of SportsXchange, acting on a tip from a Twitter follower and a message board, the Panthers now list John Ramsdell as a senior offensive assistant.

lol

This is a great hire and gives two more eyes and years of experience in formulating our passing game. So far we have our 2 third down 6-10 yard , move the chain and red zone receivers in Cotcherty/Olsen. The rest is essentially a blank page. Our draft history in this area sucks and different imput is nesessary. We now have the opportunity to build from the ground up the WRs which will fit our scheme and match it with Cam's strengths. I would expect that there are 10-15 WRs who will be available to us after the top 3-5 go before our first pick. Historically many of these will have better careers than the earlier picks. With our cap situation, we are forced to depend on building the offense thru the draft and we MUST hit on at least one this May. We our bringing in all of the brain power that we can to make these decisions. Depending on how these scheme/draft evaluations proceed, they may end up honing in on very specific players, which might precipitate trading up/down on draft day to target a player.

Makes sense.

That said, he's paid to know these things.

It's one thing to just be a bad reporter, but lying to cover up your failings is a whole other level.   Person didn't know about John Ramsdell being hired.  Why wouldn't you report that story if you knew about it for two weeks?  Like you said, he gets paid to know these things!  He posted it on twitter mere minutes after it was posted on the huddle.

I wonder what else Person is lying about...probably said he has a journalism degree but in reality he went to clown college.  I hope he gets fired very soon.
