John Ramsdell - Senior Offensive Assistant?

None of the Panthers beat writers caught this...none of them.  LOL @ Joe Person saying Ron Rivera told him two weeks ago.  What a clown, he should be fired for saying bullshit like that.  At least man up and say you missed it.

I just noticed this today.  No teamsite info, no google info.  I think I might've been the first to see this.

Obviously if not, disregard and go easy.

This is a pretty massive move for the team, in my opinion.   Those of us that pay attention to that stuff, he was the top choice for a few of us for OC in '11.  Also Lance Taylor's gone as assistant WRs coach, which is a spot I hope we fill.

That's a terrific find man. You need to replace Joe Person immediately. Seriously

thanks.

you know the maddening thing is - OK, so not everybody knows the game that writes.  And Mr. Scot and I are definitely coach geeks. He and I over the years have talked about assistant coaches like mad.  So I get it, not everybody writing will know Ramsdell.

But Sweet Fancy The Golden Calf of Bristol, google the guy. Even complete ignorance of it other than "here's this coach someone told me joined" gives you the name to google.  Wait, it's Person.  Does Altavista still work?

It's funny you should mention the Coryell system. Can we really say that was our philosophy last year? It was so conservative, so west coast. When Rivera and Chud first got here, we kept on hearing how we were going to get yards in bug chunks -- and we did. Let's see how the offense clicks this year. A lot of that will be dictated by the talent on the field.

Conservative and west coast offenses are not even close to the same offenses.

Person finally reporting it. No sources.

edit - actually it says he's taking Taylor's place, which isn't exactly true.  Taylor's assistant WR coach job - essentially a paid internship - should be fairly different from the one Ramsdell will take.

The "senior" in that title definitely makes it interesting.  I'd be intrigued to find out where he fits in the org chart.

Is there any reason you know of that he's never been a coordinator?

Mags answered it pretty well.

Possible grooming for him to take over the offense in 2015.

Thought occurred to me too.

I was thinking Earhardt-Perkins more than WCO, but Mags is right.  While they adapted the system, it stayed base Coryell in principle.
