John Ramsdell - Senior Offensive Assistant?

Guy has a deep, deep, deep background in Coryell offensive philosophy.

A while back, Peter King mentioned him as a possible option for OC here.  mentioned he's got a very solid record working with young quarterbacks.

It's funny you should mention the Coryell system. Can we really say that was our philosophy last year? It was so conservative, so west coast. When Rivera and Chud first got here, we kept on hearing how we were going to get yards in bug chunks -- and we did. Let's see how the offense clicks this year. A lot of that will be dictated by the talent on the field.

it was definitely our philosophy.  Remember, the offensive scheme doesn't mean it's going to be exactly what Martz did.  Dan Henning was Coryell - well, that was an extreme example, but Norv is Coryell, and Norv was conservative.  You have the playbook, the philosophy, the terminology, but you call the plays you call.  The QB still has to pull the trigger on the deep route that gets called.

You could definitely say Shula is different from Chud, but the second half of '12 Chud wasn't exactly the guy he was v/s Green Bay/AZ in '11, either. Difference between late '12 and most of '13 is there were fewer really weird tricks, like the statue of liberty type stuff.

Honestly, I think people have this misnomer that because it's not what they want, it's not what Rivera wants.  He certainly seems to want a conservative offense now that he has a good defense.  Maybe he wanted the deep ball every second down in his own territory when it didn't matter if the D was gassed.
