Imaging trillions tons of ashe raining down on us, destroying vegitation, killing animals.  Every breathe you take you inhale this ashe... the more you breathe the harder it gets to breathe because this fine ashe goes into your lugs and slowly turns into a fine cement when it mixed with lung fluids.  Sun will be no more, vehicles won't be able to run, airplanes won't be able to fly, boats wont be able to move.  Chaos takes over the streets, gangs will rule whatever resources are left.  The death is imminent.

Ash clouds travel great distances.  If Yellowstone did erupt the ash would reach the east coast. Iceland had a eruption 3-4 years ago that pretty much shutdown Airspace in Western Europe.   About 6-8 years ago a Volcano erupted on the Aluetian Penisula that sent ash all the way to Montana.  Would it be a extinction volcano for the whole of the US no.  But it would cause major problems for a few months.
