Cotchery as #1 WR or Bell at starting LT or rookies starting at both positions

Knowledge by itself does not guarantee success unfortunately. Decisions can make or break a franchise.

I'm not saying that Gettleman is not making the right decisions, just saying that there are many factors.

Agree completely, but I'm far more comfortable playing faith in DG than a mass of horribly unqualified armchair GM's who have absolutely nothing invested, apart from emotion, in the process. I should have provided better context.

My ideal scenario is WR in the 1st, starting WR corps of that guy and Cotchery.  LT in the 2nd (Turner is my main interest) who can't come in and start immediately, so Bell starts the season at LT but the 2nd rounder takes the job by midseason.  RT in the 3rd (Juwan James, Tiny Richardson, Jack Mewhort) can start the season since RT isn't as tough as LT.  WR in the 4th (COLEMAN!!) to be the 3rd WR.  Underwood is 4th.  Not mentioned in all this is CB, which could easily be picked from the 2nd on, and wouldn't surprise me completely if we took one in the 1st.  My preference is to heavily address WR and OT early though, and keep working with a patchwork DB corps for now.

I honestly don't think we'll go into next season with either of the scenarios of Bell starting LT, or a Rookie starting LT.  I think we'll draft someone to take over, but I think we'll let some moves happen and see what's available in the cheaper pile of free agents at the end, or possibly after some cuts are made, possibly a cap casualty of a LT with some experience is let go for a decent younger guy from another team, and we'll make a move on the older guy for a rental until the rookie gets up to speed.

That's just not a position that you can go into the season with inexperience like what we have on the roster, so I think a rental for a vet that has a clue of what's going on will be our likely course.  I think it's much more plausible that we can go into the season with no legit #1 receiver than there is we can go into the season without a legit LT.

It's way to early to even guess.

Draft, free agency is far from over.

What is the obsession labeling a receiver #1 at this point?

The Panthers haven't had a number 1 for a long.time now.

No rookie is going to come in and be a #1 this year. He should have an impact, but enough to be considered a true number 1 in his rookie season?

Not Iif I was a betting man.
