Can Byron Bell really play left tackle and Cam survive?

LT and RT are completely different positions. RT typically have to be in a closed stance being that they are lined up on the strong side, making the kick step slightly. They also go against the Charles Johnson esque run stuffing strongside DE. I would say that Bell struggles the most with that first kick step and run blocking. On the left side, he could set in a more open stance. This could help his first step. However he will be going against speed ends, who will murder Cam from the blindside if Bell gives them the corner. We shall see.

Well it may work, but only if we can find a RT in the draft that can run block. A "number two" wide receiver, just someone that's a potential touchdown threat. Then we need a shiny new TE to pair with Olsen. After this we could run two TE sets getting the ball out quickly, and should theoretically have a run game (especially with Cam being a run threat himself).

Our current situation is scary though! We have to put together some pieces, but having Bell at LT may work if we don't expect him to carry the load.

At first I thought it was a smoke screen or a really bad joke Rivera was playing suggesting they may move Bell to LT.

As I will be reminded it is still early but please explain to me who do you see in FA or the draft that we could put on Cam's blind side that will keep Cam upright ?

Someone please wake me from this nightmare.

That could potentially be awkward....

*training camp, 1st scrimmage, 1st team offense jogs out onto the field, Bell jogs over to LT spot*

*Cam, Rivera, and rest of offense burst out laughing*

*Byron, damn I'm sorry man, we were joking about you playing LT, we figured you knew that!*

*Bell: has Johnathan Martin-esque breakdown*

Yea I can see more 2 TE sets with one being used as an additional blocker. My biggest fear is  keeping Cam upright and healthy. I would also hate to see him get frustrated if we cannot provide some level of protection.

Regardless of the draft I do not seeing our offense improving much this year. This is definitely a process and make take another year to right the ship

I kinda look at it like this is ground zero. Without Cotchery, and Olsen, the WR corp. is young and unproven. Where any spot can be upgraded in a heart beat. We have a plethora of young WRs, let's give them an opportunity to show up. We have a great staff, let's hope they can continue the trend of getting quality minutes from their kids.

So yeah. We are in, give the kids a look mode. Adding a draft pick to the mix, and we are who we are. Until we find out who we are, we won't know what our true needs are.

I, like all of you, do not really have the skillset that it takes to evaluate potential NFL talent.

I beg your pardon good sir. I absolutely do have the skill set to evaluate talent. What I don't have are the resources needed to actually, you know, do the job. Let me devote the time and effort to do the job well enough to earn a living, and I say, why not?

But...I bet there are a bunch of us out there. Ex-playerz with something left to give. Let me do this as a job? I'm in. Let me talk to the wife, I'll be right back.

Yea I do not understand the logic if you are a bad RT how can that make you a good LT

Mainly because he is left handed. Teamed with blind hope. Dangerous mix.
