My other thought was that it was softening the blow to Philly fans about his release.  From what I understand, they didn't need to make this move for cap space.

On Thursday, a source in the organization said current front-office members had been unaware of Jackson's links to an alleged killer.

 

This makes me think that his release has nothing to do with "gang affiliation."

Based on that website, one of the guys were acquitted of the murder. Regardless, sometimes you have to distance yourself from people that you grew up with who are nothing but trouble. I wish some of these athlethes will realize that they are getting a chance of a life time to play pro sports and to get paid doing so. We will see what really comes out about this situation. I lost hope in the media these days.
