Ron Rivera: Panthers may not need number 1 WR in 2014

I honestly believe this is completely inaccurate. If you think DG thinks our O is perfectly fine then you might as well call him a moron. NO ONE looks at a 26th ranked O and thinks it's good enough.

I believe they "trust in the process" to sort it all out. I one hundred percent think they legitimately think Byron Bell is capable of playing LT if need be. I think they feel we will be just fine if we have to go into the season with the wide receiving corp we have now.

Do they look at it and think it needs to be better? Sure. But that doesn't mean they don't feel it will sort itself out "naturally" instead of them actually having to make any very, very significant effort to fixing it.

Harvin wasn't on the field the entire season...so in the context of this discussion he wasn't a #1 receiver that lead them to the best record in the NFL. I thought there was only one Captain Obvious in this forum.

Olsen has to be accounted for by the defense. A guy who caught 10 TD passes last year has to be accounted for by the defense. If they're not then we have a QB who will make the D pay for stacking the box. Cam showed he could do that last year with below average receivers.

Your point was on par with our mediocre receivers.....keep pounding your chest though.

Lol. If you think Jericho is going to have 10tds again this season, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Maybe one day you'll know something more than below average tail gates.

the only way they even come close to having the success that they did last season, is if one of the new guys have a break out yr. Sounds like Gettleman is hanging his hat on finding the next Victor Cruz. We'll see how well that works out for them...

Cruz was an UDFA.... You're being way over dramatic about this. I'm almost certain we take at least one WR in the first three rounds, maybe two overall, and sure, there may very well be some dice rolls on undrafted players. DO has a track record doing that, so I'm willing for that to be part of the strategy.

Im glad Rivera gave us a non filtered opinion that obviously reveals the organizations true intentions towards the draft. ...you guys need more hobbies... getting all worked up over such an inconsequential comment

But he said it to the media!

You're not allowed to lie to the media!

lol! How am I being over dramatic when in every interview where Gettleman is asked about WRs, he mentions Victor Cruz? I know he was undrafted but he mentions him to say that it doesn't matter how unknown the guys are they could make themselves stars if given the opportunity.

& DUH they are gonna take recievers in the draft. But my opinion still stands that whoever comes in wont be effective IMMEDIATELY so what diff does it make?

When you believe the sky is falling, everything you hear can and will be attributed to the reason the sky is falling. The OP is a goldmine for the sky is falling crowd. Good times.

I was just linking what I read in the observer D$$$she Bag .

You said that they are hanging their hat on replicating what happened with Victor Cruz.... Which is finding your superstar amongst the UDFA's.... I say that while it's an option, they are planning on drafting a prospect early in the draft. Now you are saying we can't find a day one impact WR.... DUH (your term) ... We draft 28th, not top five.... Doesn't mean we can't get lucky though. I fail to see why there is derision about the reality the team has to deal with.
