Ron Rivera: Panthers may not need number 1 WR in 2014

I'm not understanding why Ron thinks our run game was so great last year... without Cam we were probably 20th or worse.

I don't think he does.  I think he's in PR mode right now.  We have what we have and at this point, there's not much we can do to change things.  So he's just putting a happy face on it and letting fans know that we are still going to be good, so don't freak out.

Now, I think he does believe we have a good running game, but I have no doubt that he also recognizes that we need more from our RB's, and can't rely so much on Cam...but that is not something he could or should say.

Haven't read the thread yet, but if they don't get a #1 WR, we will not go farther in the Playoffs and may miss them entirely. Our run game is terrible when you take Cam's yards out. And any new O-Line needs time to gel as a unit. Our D can't keep winning games for us.

Because of Cam's injury, wouldn't it be safe to say the OL would have more time to gel than the QB and new WR?

Gettleman will most likely draft a WR, but it wont be in  the early rounds like many of you are expecting.

With the class so deep, and Gettleman's assumed eye for talent, we could get a legitimate weapon for Cam in the mid-late rounds.

we're so used to mid to late round picks being garbage, but this new guy could have a serious nack for snagging talent. Who needs picks when you can bring in solid UDFA contributors ?

Just beef up the O-line. Double dip? how about OL through round 3.

    • Film Room Playlist _ NFL Pro — Mozilla Firefox 2024-11-25 10-20-11.mp4 🎯🎯🎯 There were a couple of "fans" yesterday saying that this wasn't a helmet-to-helmet shot... 👀 Looks like based on where Moore was and where the play ended, he'd have gotten maybe just a yard or two more. Chuba was downed at the KC 16 and Moore was on his way back to the QB, so the offense got what they could for the most part. After reviewing the all-22, Bryce made the right call here. Tremble was the hot and KC sent both LBs. He gets it out with a clear pocket but it's quickly collapsing. If there was a little more time it looked like AT came free at the end but whether or not Bryce would've been upright still is another story. Smart move to get the completion and keep the field goal in play to stay alive. George Karlaftis is about to get himself a big ole hug and Bryce heaves it to where David Moore is going. Trent McDuffie slipped just a step or two before this shot, but we can see the clear DPI here as he's wrapped around David Moore before knocking him over as the ball gets there.
    • I’m taking a TE early day 3 Ian Thomas and Tremble are FA.  We should have no desire to bring them back.   There’s more than enough film of ball bouncing off their hands or facemask.
    • Daniel Jones sometimes would sling it for 300 or 400 yards.  That's my stance.  We know what Bryce is.  If you consistently play any QB at this level, they largely are going to end up w/ some good days/games.  last time Mahomes was at BOA, Teddy Bridgwater threw for 300+ yards and a couple TDs and the Matt Rhule Panthers almost took him down.  We know what Bryce is.  Now we got people predictably falling into a predictable trap.
