Ron Rivera: Panthers may not need number 1 WR in 2014

You said that they are hanging their hat on replicating what happened with Victor Cruz.... Which is finding your superstar amongst the UDFA's.... I say that while it's an option, they are planning on drafting a prospect early in the draft. Now you are saying we can't find a day one impact WR.... DUH (your term) ... We draft 28th, not top five.... Doesn't mean we can't get lucky though. I fail to see why there is derision about the reality the team has to deal with.

sweetheart...you need to go to Gettleman with this opinion. The Victor Cruz comparison came from HIM not ME! I thought I made that clear in my last response. It's obvious that you aren't getting my point but that's your own problem. You probably should just stop commenting in that case.

Maybe one day you'll know something more than below average tail gates.

Low blow right there. RR is an asset to Panther fans in Charlotte. He champions the cause for the anti-Steeler anti-Cowboy fan bar bullshit.

When has Rivera ever played mind games with the media? Never. He's overly honest when he answers questions.

Oh yeah. I'm sure he has no issue at all with revealing all our offseason plans.

Maybe he'll give out the top names on our draft board if we ask him nice.

Lol. If you think Jericho is going to have 10tds again this season, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Maybe one day you'll know something more than below average tail gates.

One of the few guys on this board that puts his money where his mouth is and tries to do something for this lame-ass fan base, and you sh!t on him for it. All because he doesn't agree with your whining. You're ridiculous, man. Seriously. If you're older than 14, you should be thoroughly embarrassed.

I do not think he is that stupid....he is protecting his boss and his OC. We have clearly regressed with the loss of Gross and others. I do understand it is early and I do believe this draft is absolutely loaded with WRs and we will grab one but someone please explain how we are going to replace Gross even if we draft one with our 1st pick?

To me it was an insult to the intelligence of the fan base for Rivera to suggest our LT may be on the team. I really thought Gettts was going sign one of the guys who hit FA.

Our LT may not be any better but I think we can come out of this with a better overall O line than last year - Amini will be back ( from injury ), Garry Williams will be back ( from injury ), Nat Chandler will be better, Kug will play and we may sign a very good journeyman tackle - we may also pick up some plug and play type guys in the draft.  I have faith in G Man and Rivera.

Shiny new toys or I'll cut myself and beat up my care bear!!

Trade away everything we have so we can be like Payton manning and choke every year 'cause we don't have a an elite player at every position on the roster!

This team sucks! The FO is full-tard! I know how to fix the cap problems...sign more high-priced free agents an get rid of our highly coveted players so we can get more high prices free agents so Cam will stay 'cause 12-4 was just lucky even though we had so many scrubs and the hardest schedule in the league.

Cut myself and bang my head against the wall and rip my care bets arms out!!! Noooooooo!!!!

If we don't draft a wr in one of the first two rounds I will be pissed. If they like a guy in the 5th that's fine, draft him. Just don't expect him to be a superstar right away for some reason. And I don't care if he's short tall big black white or purple, draft a wr in the first two rounds bc we need one bad.

Who exactly was Seattle's #1 WR?

He's just letting it be known that their focus is going to be on the OL so that they can run the ball effectively. A strong line = better running game + more time for Cam = more time for receivers to get open = better offensive control + strong D = Super Bowl.

yea im not buying into the "Rivera and Gettleman are idiots and have no fuggin clue what they're doing" mantra. These men are smart. they know the offense was terrible last year. and it doesnt take an offensive guru to figure out what the problems were. neither does it take an offensive guru to fix them. i have faith that the problems will be addressed and our offense will take a step forward this year. how far a step that is depends on alot of factors.

that being said, im a methodical SOB at heart when it comes to football philosophy. offensive efficiency and sustainability is much more important to me than glamorous playmaking. exert your will on defense, do enough on offense to keep them on their heels. Seattle proved that defense wins championships, the Broncos' meltdown aside.
