Dark horse pick for our first rounder... Mass Suicide would be had by all

Sounds familiar. There is a light in the back of my mind. Something about teams liking to stop the run, rush the passer, and in general, raise havoc with just your down four. If you want a great D, you have to have a great front 4. Well, we gots that covered.

I wish our DBs were near as good as theirs. But I bet they want their LBs to be as good as ours.

I personally, don't care about rankings. I care about effectiveness. And our D was damm effective last year. I expect that to continue. As long as we keep the points down, create some turnovers, and continue to harass QBs we should be among the best. That's all that really matters. To me anywho.

You are right. As long as you get it done that is all that matters.

With the majority of cap space going to pass rushers and qbs it will be interesting to see how teams spend their money for the other positions. My guess upgrading the safety position will be more important than cb on defense .

On offense ....you better have a good OL or the qb will never get the ball to a WR.

Man, I hope not.

I don't think I'd be too upset about it.  It would give us leverage next season to cut CJ (even though he's great) and save a ton of money.  I think Ford will be a great pro.  He may go to New Orleans at 27.

He is not much bigger than Shazier, no way would I put him in at DE in our system.  He will get engulfed by every OT in the league and driven to the ground.  He, in my opinion, is going to have to transition to OLB in a 34.  And that will be somewhat of a chore for him.

I think he might end up a second rounder when it is all said and done. Might be wrong, but we will see.

I agree with you mostly.  I didn't mean he would take CJ's position on the line of a 4-3 but Dee Ford lives in the backfield and like Von Miller, you would find a way to get him on the field and alter your scheme around it a bit.

I just know Gettleman likes his pass rushers and I wouldn't be shocked if he ignored positions of need and took someone like him, like the OP was saying.

Jarhead;

Hadn't really thought about it that way, but having 2 Safties you can trust would be high on the list. Keep the long yarders down. Allow the CB to be more aggressive, maybe that's just me. Cover the mistakes the CBs make when they are aggressive. Be able to help in run support. And the occasional blitz. Easy peasy.

But...Godfrey? and Harper? Really? Godfrey and Harper? For realz? Cason and White? Okee dokee? But I jest. jk

I see what we have at DB. I see where upgrades are needed. I just don't see us going S that high in the draft. But hellz, I was one of those WTF guys when we took Keek. So there is that.

Im still not over us passing on Keenan Allen, Ricky Proehl even posted a twitter pic of him and Allen together before the draft! At one point Star and Allen where projected the top 2 picks of that entire draft and we could have had both of em! Why Gettleman.. WHY?!?

If Hurney had not traded away our 3rd rounder we most likely would have taken him there in the 3rd.
