Cyrus Kouandjio..... WHY?

Recommended Posts

Cyrus has the physical talent to be a "hog molly" that gettleman might want. I have no idea about the knee concerns, but Star supposedly had heart concerns that were overblown. It's almost impossible to discern between people blowing smoke and telling the truth at this time of year. I could see the panthers puling the trigger on him.

The knee is far less of an issue than his sucking at the combine.,

The guy bombed at his interview (Scouting Combine)  This was his time to show he was first round talent.  He blew chunks he was so bad.

I'm not big on Bama players in general at the next level, so combined with his Otah knee (whether smokescreen or not), I would pass. I'm okay with him not having the best combine and 1 bad game can be magnified, though it might throw up a red flag, but the knee scares me.

If you watch his play alone I don't think he should fall out of the 1st round. I think the knee problem is nothing to be concerned about however, he came into the combine overweight/out of shape and it showed in his drills. That's not the type of work ethic you want from a starting LT, especially one who needs to slim down before being able to start against elite pass rushers in the NFL.

I'm not sure if we've worked him out/met with him privately or not but I don't see us taking him over Moses in the 1st anyways but if he falls to us in the 2nd round then I would have no problem drafting him, he just needs to get in shape.

At #28, I just want the best starter still available. How many starters are available at each position is hard to pin down without having a guy in training camp and competing with other NFL starters.

At #28, we are going to be looking at players ranked down the line for each position, depending on which position they play. For instance, we could be looking at the 4th or 5th best player at a position of need such as WR, DB or OT...but there could be players who rank at or near the top of tier class at positions such as TE, OG, ILB, C, or maybe even OLB. That's when it becomes overall value or BPA over simply BPA at a position of need. Do you draft a guy that you know can step in if an injury were to occur or that may make an already starting player at a higher pay rate expendable or tradable?

What is certain, is that it would be easier to find a player capable of competing and possibly winning a starting spot based on personnel and depth at a given position. For us, it would be easier I win a starting spot along the line, at wideout and at DB. So what we are really looking at is value of the player picked with the highest probability of getting a return on a player based on salary tendered.

All this seems like common sense and I don't mean to ramble-on about things that seem so obvious. But If I new a player with a mid-second round draft projection was good enough and healthy enough to compete along the line, I'd draft him, even though it may look like a reach because of his projected draft-grade. Better to get a sure-thing than to miss out totally.

I'd rather reach and get a guy that I know can compete for a starting spot, than to simply draft a high-ceiling guy with injury or durability concerns.

Why do you even comment? I asked a simple question?  I wanted to know everyone's opinion on this guy.  This guy was a player that lost a lot of ground during the combine.

Well, he pissed me off bc he committed to Auburn and then signed with Alabama. So he's a dick. But if he's the BPA, go for it. We need a tackle.

Damn, Cyrus's whole damn agent team must be signed up to the Huddle.
