I think if Cam has any kind of awareness he'll understand whether we sign him this year or next that he will want to go easy on his team to ensure they can help build around him to provide him championships...

 

it's rare, but I think if it ever happened, this would be the guy...  

 

You can keep dreaming about that. He and his agent will and should go for the max because the CBA screwed his class and the following rookies. Cam made almost 50 million dollar less than Sam Bradford in his first years, and you think that his agent will play nice.

It's his career and his livelihood, plus Bus Cook has a reputation for bending teams over. At the end of the day it's up to Gettleman and Co. to make a long-term deal happen. Cam and Cook have the upper hand, because without him we're nothing. Great defense is nice but we'd be 10x worse than the 2010 Panther offense.

 

Gotta find a way to keep Cam long-term. Gonna be costly, but it's Gettleman's job to do the damn thang.

My thoughts on putting Cam's extension off...

 

We're going to have to pay him huge money anyway. If he explodes this year and becomes elite (raising his price in the process)...who gives a poo? That's a great thing for Cam AND the Panthers. 

 

lol we are going to have to pay him huge money yes. But if Cam explodes and then waits until other QBs sign their massive contracts it will only make it worst for the Panthers. For example, if the Colts were to reach an agreement with Luck prior to Cam and the Panthers...lets just say it won't be pretty for DG.

Why is FOX Sports saying that it'll be tougher to keep him if we put it off til next year? That's not a rhetorical question. I'm really asking. 

 

the thought process there is the longer we wait to extend Cam, the higher his value will be when we finally do...meaning, the longer we wait, the more it will cost.
