This time Rivera talking generally on PFT. Reading the tea leaves: Don't look for much change offensively.

A run heavy offense compliments our dominant defense. A pass happy offense will wear them out, whether it's because we're scoring quickly or having a bad day.

Seattle's offense was just as conservative, if not more, than ours. They played the most prolific offense & QB in NFL history in the Super Bowl. And they beat the ever living dog poo out of them.

Leave the pass happy poo for fantasy football. Beef up that o-line & watch D-Will, Stewart, Tolbert, & Newton run a train thru everybody.

That scenario, not the high octane passing attack, just won the Super Bowl.

Further, don't expect any Panther exec to tell you, 6 weeks before the draft, exactly what they are going to replace or value.  You got generic, just not "it is what it is".  You can expect more of this for awhile.

Candor will happen a couple days after the draft, but now now

An overall good coaching and game planning effort.

While many here claim Shula sucks and have good reason to believe so, I tend to believe he did a good job. Its just speculation and I'm just going off of my deadly gut instinct here, but I think Shuls did a good job with what we had. Didn't we have a fugging DT play guard? Didn't we make the most out of a guy named Ted who kicked rocks for two years in San Fran? The guy did what he had to do to get the job done.

Here is my completely sound example:

When it was like madden 10 or something and we didn't have poo on offense, I played extremely careful, eat up the clock, possession type of game. Made sure I had the last possession at the end of each half, cause I didn't have the fire power to bust my opponent's balls offensively. I won games by being conservative.

OK that's just madden, but my point is that Shuls might have done an exceptional job at ahereing to the overall game plan, in which Rivera set. Give the guy an extra year or two and maybe a couple of weapons before judging the guy.

This is the best answer. Gettlemen is sticking with our I identity. Run the ball and the clock down our opponents throats and keep the defense elite and rested. We just need to capitalize in the red zone and points will change. I'm all for a number 1 receiver but would not be mad if we double dipped in o line in first two rounds just for this resin

All he's saying is it isn't going to be hard to improve what we let go.  If anything I would expect he thinks we can do better this year with new guys.

OK, guys, nothing really new (same theme as Olsen), but he did say that as for as our WRs go, "We have to basically replace 10 catches by the wide receiver position," making reference to the fact that we rushed for over 100 yards in 15 of 16 games. 'We've got to find guys that can catch the ball those 10 times to be able to do what we did last year."

Sounds like Shula's offense is going to be implemented in full force.   :phew:

animated-msn-big-grin-smiley-emoticon.gi  Oh, goody.

I wonder if those rushing totals that he is referencing include Newton's yardage.

I hate when it is referenced we rushes for 100+ yards in 15 games.

That makes it sound like we rush the ball well. It was just Cam largely making something weak look good on a stat sheet

Cam only rushed for 585yds of the 2,026yds which is 1/4 of the total production. The run game is going to be top 5 with a younger OL & healthy Stewart & Cam!. This will open up the passing game, along with the use of  2 TE set will increase the passing game production.

I believe 2014 offense production is going be 2500yds rushing, 4,000yds+ passing & 50TD's.

I wouldn't put it past Gettleman to double dip at O-linemen in rounds 1 and 2 if they are the BPA, but damn...we'd just have to be having a stroke of bad luck with every receiver that truly deserves a first round pick being gone for me to see that happening.  And, yes, it could happen.  I mean, do we pick Moses, Matthews or Benjamin if everyone else is gone? And if we don't reach for Benjamin or Matthews in the first, they probably aren't going to be there is the second.

I can see the scenario where Martavis Bryant and Brandon Coleman would be the picks in rounds 3 or 4, after picking Moses in the first round and James or Turner in the second.  I would actually be OK with it, not that it would be my first choice.  Pick up keith McGill in four or 5 and Colt Lyerla in 5 or 6 (or Perhaps Marcel Jensen), and I would have a hard time complaining.  We'd just have to try and pick up some more WR depth in FA after some cuts.
