David Newton is as definitive as we've seen: D-Jax NOT happening!

Nobody wants to trade for DJ, but if he is cut there will be a line of agents calling his reps. That's because no one wants him with his contract, but if he gets cut an the Eagles are paying his guaranteed salary then the teams going after him might get him at a cheaper rate for a couple years before moving on.

He reminds me of a WR version of Revis. Very good player, but his me first attitude is gonna be what makes him play for 6 different teams over a 10-12 year career.

Of his 10.5 million salary, only 250,000 of his 2014 salary is guaranteed assuming he didn't receive his workout bonuses in 2012 and 2013.

So he isn't going to get anything from Philly if he is cut.

Oh snap thanks for the correction. I assumed that he would have some accelerated amount that Philly would be paying thus whatever team he signed with getting a deal so to speak.

Is it only Panthers contracts that are structured that way or how does that work?

Jackson is slated to make $10.25 million this year in base salary and is owed around $30 million through 2016. If the Eagles were to cut Jackson, they’d be on the books for $6 million in dead money stemming from the pro-rated signing bonus in his extension before the 2012 season.

The issue that any guaranteed money he gets which has already been paid by Philly will accelerate for cap purposes but Jackson received the 10 million signing bonus when he received the contract in 2012.  So he got all that money up front but for cap purposes the money is prorated over the life of the contract. But when he is cut or traded whatever is left over not yet prorated, get accelerated.  So his dead cap money is 6,250,000 but if he is cut he loses his salary of 10,500,00 which is not guaranteed and has to renegotiate a new contract with whichever team either he wants to go to or whoever is interested.
