David Newton is as definitive as we've seen: D-Jax NOT happening!

Ted Ginn at 3 million or D jax at 11 million and wanting more...

Is D jax a guy who impacts a gm by 7-8+ million more than say even a Ted Ginn?

Yes he is a playmaker but he is a guy that does not dominate the game except for special teams... Which is getting more diminished each season with rule changes.

If D jax was at 4-5 million he is worth it but not for slightly less than Megatron cash.

WR + Play maker = Carolina not interested

yes because it's as simple as that.

does this same tripe you and others posting get boring?

can you objectively think about the situation we are in? even if you think we should get him can you elaborate what we would have to do to land him?

i want him on the panthers as bad as anyone because it is an immediate rush that things are going to be ok, instead of being scared of the unknown. but damn get a new schtick cause this is wearing beyond thin.

Obviously there is more to it. But if they signed Hardy and cut Godfrey that would most likely free up the space.

Well maybe if they would have probably address the WR position in the last how many years this "schtick" wouldn't be getting old. Do you not see what the other franchises are doing with their young, half as talented QB's? Their putting them in situations to succeed. Carolina has a defense but more times than not Cam was running for his dam life this year. Cam bailed out O sooooo many times with his legs. Your number 1 weapon on offense shouldn't have to be your QB's legs.

Getting DJax would open up the underneath routes for Cotchery. I think Cotch can still be solid paired with a speedy guy like DJax and even Underwood who can stretch the field as well. Plus, assuming we draft a rookie WR or two having DJax around to have the defense roll his way would benefit the rooks greatly. If we go into the season with rookies, Cotchery and Underwood I think we'll be asking/expecting too much from any rookie WR we draft.

you're a thinking i'm not in agreement with you. I am. You know what i said in the draft section. I thought Hardy was 99% gone. And he should be for the benefit of the entire team.

tagging him changed everything.

literally everything. What i thought was going to be a loss of an up and coming elite DE to help fill our holes and strengthen other positions, the resigning of some of our 1 year deal players (mitchell especially) turned into a complete and total offensive rebuild. I'm guessing Gettleman can look much further ahead than me. I believe, 100% he can, because i'm sitting athome reading secondhand poo to form my opinion. the dude is not an idiot. His resume proves otherwise. That's not to say he is devoid of mistakes (how he handled smitty). And a lot of people are put off by his confidence, and northern accent. I think people are really dumb if they think Gettleman doesn't realize the talent, player and person that we have in Cam.

It is a damn shame we have literally drafted 1 offensive player (Amini) that was an active player his 3rd year. That is not all on Dave. He has made choices, draft and build up the defense first. What did he do last year with the defense? Tore it down, Cut Gamble, cut Anderson, cut Beason.  What did he do this year?

I don't think Gettleman is settling. I think he's decided to rip it all off and build up through the draft. Once the roster is completely set, i'll form an objective opinion of what he is trying to do with Cam and this offense. But Cam was drafted to an old team, with old players and old contracts. Cam is going into his 4th year, and trust me it is not to late for him. Cam is not stupid, he will not take some contract from the Raiders or some other team who has major cap room because Cam doesn't care about money as much as he cares about winning.

Like i said, I dont know if this was the right move. None of us do. Probably wasn't for immediate gratification. But i think in the long run Cam will get his weapons and this ENTIRE team will be better for it.

Give it time, relax, and truly think about the big picture. That is what I'm trying to do anyways.

This off season has been like going and watching all your friends open their Christmas presents while you wait to try to hit the after sales in the Dollar Store after it's been picked through. The idea of finding a great gift after you think all hope is lost hold a lot of allure.

Fact remains, if we wanted him we could make it happen.
