I trust whoever we take at 28....whether it's Cooks, OBJ, Benjamin or Matthews. That being said, Cooks doesn't do it for me. I think Beckham will translate better or even Herron if were looking for that shifty explosive WR. Watching some clips of Cooks and I saw a lot of smoke routes and rub offs that allowed him to get open underneath. His vertical, hands and abilities in traffic were impressive along with his blazing speed, but IMO, I don't feel confident with him if he didn't have a stronger WR ahead of him. A WCO system with a Fitzgerald/Gordon/Bryant/Marshall/Brown already in place would be ideal. Again, if Getts and our staff think he represents value and BPA for us when we step to the podium, so be it.

I'm not a fan either. His 4.3 speed doesn't translate to the field imo. He relies on running lanes after catching the ball and more times than not doesn't make people miss.

He does track the ball in the air well. He's a better receiver than Tavon was coming out but he's not the playmaker Tavon was.

I think we'd get better value with grabbing one of the smaller type playmakers in the later rounds. My hope is a team takes Cooks and OBJ falls to us.

I just finished watching his cut-ups against Oregon, Arizona State and Washington in 2013 before posting this. I watched parts of his game against Colorado which seems to be his best cut-up reel. Nice catch in double coverage that DCK posted earlier.

 

I agree. I like the Welkers, Cooks, Austins, and Jacksons of the world. I really do. But not as true No. 1. And I like them even less with our QB and our offensive philosophy. 

 

If we were to take Cooks and another WR in the second so be it. But to take Cooks and move on would be a mistake, imo.
