I don't know of a single non-still-butthurt-over-Smitty Panthers fan that would give Gettleman heat at this point for landing Jackson.

The fact that it can be done means it's possible.  Are we in the best situation to do it? No.  There are a lot of reasons why we could land him and I'm not doubting Getts that he can make it happen.  Godfrey coming off his achilles injury is not worth his contract, Kraken should be restructured to remove that $13MM pricetag and DJax can be talked into taking a little less this year, and we extend him maybe an extra year off his last contract and backload it.  I'm not saying we backload everyone equally because then we'd have problems.  Getts and Co. should be smart enough to space out Hardy, Cam, Luke and DJax's contracts properly over the next 2-5 years.  The connection with Cam and how close we would be to contenders with Jackson here plus a solid draft.  There are places that make more sense on paper (NYJ, Oak, NE), but to say that he won't be here or that we shouldn't get our hopes up, isn't accurate.

I never like to say never, but the likelihood of him coming here are very slim so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Plus if he gets cut there is a reason no other team would part with a third round pick just to make sure they got him.

We have cam for a guaranteed two more years. A team option next year and the franchise tag the following year. It would be ridiculously expensive those two years, though.
