D-Jax Big Possibility of Being Cut

Recommended Posts

Per Rotoworld.com:

New York Daily New's Manish Mehta reports DeSean Jackson is unwilling to restructure the $10.5 million he is scheduled to make in 2014.

Manish added a source told him, "Philly is trading him or cutting him. That's a fact. They don't want him." Cutting Jackson would save the Eagles around $6 million against the cap this season and, more importantly, about $11 million against the 2015 cap. The Eagles would obviously much rather trade Jackson, but his unwillingness to restructure and the Eagles' intention to cut him make a trade unlikely. The Jets and Panthers would lead the chase if/when Jackson is released.

If DeSean gets cut, it'll be a situation similar to Smitty's where he can take less money because his old team will still be paying him too. Maybe that's why Gettleman is slowplaying this (like everything else).

Don't get hyped up, but GET HYPE possibly.

As a Jets fan, I can say Mehta is pure garbage as a reporter.  Actually, he, and our dufus duo here are pretty relatable, but it is an interesting thought.  My guess is that he's trying to point to smoke in hopes that there's a fire for the hometown Jets.... makes sense too.  Carolina can't outbid New York with the cap, so we'd have to pimp Cam to bring Jax here... very doable though.... and we get to keep our draft picks.

    • Bryce put it in a spot only his guy could get it only for David Moore to drop it. T_T Tremble and Horn both struggled yesterday and that killed me since they're two of my favourite players. Tommy knows he has to come down with this one. Folks were understandably saying that JT would've caught that had he not gotten hurt a few plays earlier. The more I look at this play, the more I think that Bryce made the right decision throwing it out the back of the endzone. He could have tried to laser it in to Thielen, but that safety is lurking awfully close inside. Insuring the field goal here after a 44sec drive to end the half was the right move.
    • Except Bryce was the main reason we were in it
    • NFL Pro has the All-22 up already 😄 Going to grab a play or two from each redzone series to put screenshots to. Looks like AT angled his route off to the near pylon rather than the back corner where Bryce was throwing to. I imagine this is something they'll quickly try to figure out with Thielen back from IR. After watching the All-22 again, this was actually a pretty nifty play. I thought it was a TE screen to Tremble because of the way XL charged the DB, but he quickly shed and kept upfield as seen in the second screenshot. This looks like it had multiple layers built into it with AT running the crosser, XL the fade, Tremble to the flat. The progression would call for the play to go to Chuba here as the LB does follow Tremble out into the flat. Ball hits Chuba low and in the hands, but the LB does a good job disrupting the catch.
