The New York Jets QB Situation

I did say that NY may not have any starting caliber QB's, but it's too early to pass judgement on Geno, though Vick is way past his prime and a lock for the IR.

If they're bringing in Vick relying on him to contribute on the field, it was a terrible move.  But the way Vick handled the Philly thing last year tells me he can be be a helpful backup and not a distraction, which is what Geno needs to have behind him, IMO.  He also may be able to step in if Smith goes down/can't finish the season.  But you can't really rely on Vick, too much risk.

I do agree that the Jets may not, but overall, I think they're making the right moves to support Smith developing

I agree with everything you said, but my point is solely this- I don't trust either of them to be able to carry a team through a 16 game season and come out on the winning end. Geno can certainly improve and change my mind, but as of right now he's done nothing to show me he can be a successful starter. Vick is a mentor/bandaid at this stage but he is a good fit with the Jets.
