  Im sorry you don't like it. But Verrett would be the bpa here and I don't see why he would be such a bad pick. Also, I believe we end up with Britt, so the need for WR really diminishes here, and no need to reach for Benjamin at 28 when he will be a bust regardless.

Anyone that disses Borland has not watched any film on him, and we could use another linebacker on the outside.

Hurst and Fleming are two good tackles, so I don't see the problem in taking them in the 3rd and 4th round respectively.

Norwood and Brown are two guys we are looking at, which is why I mocked them. I don't want either of them, I was really just doing this based of the guys we looked at. Lyerla would be a great pick. Calling him the next Hernandez (A murderer?) is perhaps a bit of a stretch and pure conjecture. Teams like New England, SF, and Cincinnati pick up guys that fall off due too off the field problems/injuries and gets steals doing so (Burfict, Dennard, Blount, Lattimore, etc.)

I had a feeling people wouldn't like this because there aren't any sexy picks. But most these guys are people we already interested in. I usually due mocks based on what I think the team will do, not what I'd do lol

 

I'd be OK with picking Verrett in the 2nd.  I would take Benjamin over Verrett, or possibly even Matthews or Moses over Verrett as well, if it came to that because I don't necessarily believe that Verrett deserves that first round grade that people are trying to give him.  I'm sorry I think he is too small to play consistently on the outside, I think that he's a nickelback. Nickelbacks don't get first round grades in my book.  I know plenty will argue that he's an every down, physical corner, but I just don't believe it. 

 

I know that Borland is perhaps an underrated prospect at LB, notwithstanding being undersized, but no way I am taking him in the second round.  With our strength at LB and weakness on the line and in the WR corps, I just can't justify taking Borland with our second pick.  Third? Begrudgingly, but palatable.  If I am going to reach in the second it would be for an OT like JaWuan James or Billy Turner. I'd even be OK with picking Dee Ford over Borland (or Verrett for that matter).

 

Hurst and Flemming are easily justifiable in the mid rounds, as is Lyerla with a late round pick, or any prospect at WR.

 

I believe that you are a lot higher on Britt than you ought to be.  Don't get me wrong, I would welcome the pick with open arms. But Britt is a risk. He has been involved with law enforcement nine times in one form or fashion since being a pro. That, in addition to being hurt.  Moreover, his being that deep in Mike Munchak's doghouse is about as big of a red flag as I've seen for a talented guy in my years of watching football.  All that being said, if Britt's sticks are truly healthy and he can get his act together, he could turn out to be the Crown Jewel of the 2014 free agents. The thing is, he is not to be trusted, so I would go about my draft just like I would if he wasn't on the roster (because he may not be on anyone's roster if he keeps screwing up...seriously).

It's time to find out next Steve Smith. And by that I don't mean a 5'9 receiver, I mean a dude we can hang our hat on for the next 8 years.

It's a very deep draft, as always we will take BPA but I see us making a run at the WR position.

People said the same thing with Kuechly in '12. They said DT or CB were bigger needs. Besides, if we get Britt or Jackson, the need for WR is not that big and definitely not worth wasting a pick on Benjamin and hoping we get lucky and he works out. Sure, at 28, we could take Moses, but there is plenty of depth at OT this year that we could get guys like Turner, Hurst, or Fleming later on. Gettleman has said BPA for awhile now, so this would be your BPA. Looks like a panthers draft to me, with the exception of Lyerla.

One thing is for sure, the 28th pick may turn out to be a motherfuger this year (as all the late first round picks).

They aren't drafting Boyd after signing Joe Webb.  QB position is set.  Wouldn't surprised to see them take a LB in a later round like AJ Klein last year with Davis's career on a year-by-year basis at this point.

1. Luke was a clear BPA pick that made a lot of sense with Beason coming off 2 season on IR. We don't have that scenario now

2. Luke struggled at OLB while Beason was at Mike.

3. Why draft a ILB with ok measurables to play OLB in the second round? Or do we spend a second on a back up Mike, which Klein already provides.

4. I have no problem going BPA, just have a hard time believing he'll be higher on DG's board than the considerable WR talent that will be available, not to mention OL, CB and S.

5. I don't hate the player, I hate the fit for all the reasons listed above.

i cant say for sure, but i think panthers are those who dont waste visits in order to "trick" other teams. you only get 30 privates for what i know, why call in a player you have no intentions of drafting? they always saving a few extra towards the end in case something new comes up.

And Davante Adams probably talked to Ricky Proehl at the combine (along with Abbrederis) since he helped the first batch of WRs iirc.

After a very quiet weekend on the free-agent signing front, defending Super Bowl champion Seattle stayed in line to get a haul of compensatory picks at the 2015 draft. So far, the Seahawks have lost a total of 6 unrestricted free agents and signed none. Same story for Hosuton which is down a net 5 free agents after losing 5 while signing none. Meanwhile, other teams that could be in line to be awarded comp picks next year include Pittsburgh, Carolina and Kansas City, which is each down a net -4 free agents, while Green Bay and St. Louis are both down a net of -3 free agents. Comp picks are awarded each spring based on a formula which factors in how many unrestricted free agents a team loses versus how many they sign and at what salary the previous year. In fact, comp picks for the 2014 draft should be announced sometime in the next couple of weeks.

When I worked out with the Panthers, they just wanted me to run the route tree. It's kind of different with college and pros. Some teams want the speed out instead of just chopping the feet, or when you're running a dig route they want you to speed cut it in. The Panthers want a spear route. We had a nice conversation, and then we went in the receivers room and drew up some coverages. They told me they really like me and hope I won't get picked before they pick me.

Norwood could be one of those sleeper guys that can jump in like Kenny Stills or Kembrell Thompkins. He seems to me like a Jordan Matthews-lite. Saw that his pro day went well too, so maybe he's creeping up into the 4th round now.
