If it can clarify how paying a guy $5million to go play in Baltimore....yes....draw it please.

All BS aside I like the signings....just wish Smitty wasn't gone...my butt still hurts from this

in my mind dave main job is signing the studs for long term ie kraken, cam. luke and star. next is hitting on draft picks. he was dealt a shittty hand and turned it into a winner so far. hes done a great job with the freebies.

I do not have any fears about Gettleman but I do have concerns about the 2014 Carolina Panthers.  We had some major holes at WR, DB and on the OL.  I feel at this point are WR/DB have not improved since last year and the line is clearly worse.  I realize that with the cap mess it is the draft and not FA where the major fixes will have to happen but he better hit all his picks.  If he can fix the OL then I think we can survive mediocrity elsewhere but the current crop there worries me.

The biggest reason I am concerned about '14 though is we still have Shula.

The only thing I am worried about this year is Shula. Improve our RedZone efficiency, and we can still be a dangerous team. Get back to throwing in a few 1st down passes. Back when we were converting a ridiculous amount of 2nd and 3rd downs. Cam was completing nearly 70% of his throws. Back when we were near the top in RedZone efficiency. I want that Offense back.

IMO, RIGHT now. All we need is starting LT, and a WR good enough to give JC a push. We can go to war with that team. With the draft, and the hope of 3+ new starters. Add in any FA we add along the way. We are close. If I can see it, it must be true. And if it's true. Gman also knows we are close. I am anxious to see how this all works out.

IF...we add the right pieces. We are still a dangerous team. A basically young team. A team that is still in its growth years. I can live with that.

Yupperz. The ONLY complaint I have at all since he arrived is the "Smitty Situation". In my mind, we are only a couple of good players away from getting right back to being a dangerous team.

If Gman hits this draft as well as last year. We may well be ready to go to war. I can live with that.

Anyone thinking we get lucky and find our LT. Bring in a quality WR on par or better with JC. (Maybe 2) And we can go to war with that? I mean, even with that floor to start. There is potential scattered throughout this team. We have the staff to make this all work. Why not?

So far, the only thing that I really don't like about him is the way he treats players. Aside from Star, he's rarely said anything to make you think he feels close at all to them. That's a big change from how things were done before he got here, even before the bad contracts started. And it's not one I'm particularly fond of. Still, I would rather have someone who's great at finding quality depth than someone who's good at making our stars feel like family--that can be left to the coaches.

Well, he's on the business side of this team. He's not just there to indulge his own drafted players like Hurney seemed to be. The players on this team have been living it up on easy street until he got here. Getting big contract extensions for starting, getting big contract extensions off of major injuries. Pretty much spoiled basically compared to players on other teams. If that was what it took to build a winning franchise, Hurney would still be here.

I had to laugh after reading several of the posts made about how horrible of a job DG was doing, that he was a lost cause and needed to be fired. The dude turned our front 7 into one of the best in the league last year, added a spark to the offense by nabbing Ginn.

Somehow all of this is forgotten in less than a couple months?????

people forget what Ginn was before he came to us... which is why I'm actually really excited about Underwood.

I see a pattern in the type of players Gettleman is grabbing, and I really like where he is going.

What a lot of people aren't seeing here is that this is a team being built to win long-term... the GM isn't going to destroy our future to try to win next year, he's going to field a team that can win year in, year out.  That means you develop an elite core of players and fill in roleplayers around them.  He's doing just that.
