Carolina Panthers Sign Tiquan Underwood

I really like this signing.  He has speed and better hands than Ginn.  He has returned kicks before, so we may try him in that role as well.  Either way, he replaces Ginn, and Cotchery replaces Lafell.  Now we just need a # 1 and we are all set.

I've warmed up to Cooks, but he isn't falling to 28, he probably isn't going past the Steelers and DEFINITELY won't make it past the Jets.

You never know... Plus a lot of people are forgetting about Marquis Lee, he didn't have a great year but I'm guessing a lot of teams still have him graded over Cooks due to last years performance. Currently Cooks is slotted as the fifth best receiver, he may be someone else's #1 but I don't buy five receivers being drafted before 28.

He is every bit the WR that Ginn was....that is the point.

We still need a #1...but we have definitely shored up the #2 and #3 positions.

Cotchery/Underwood is probably better than LaFell/Ginn

No that's not possible because Gettleman doesn't know what he's doing.

Before Underwood came to the Bucs, I remember him being on the Patriots for their 2011 Super Bowl season and he was cut the day before the Super Bowl. Guess he wants to come to Charlotte and not just play in one, but win it too.

If he can match last years production this a great deal.  The upside is there as well.  Young elite caliber athlete with some NFL experience at a low cost.

With very modest projections:

Underwood - 40 rec 450 yards

Cotchery - 50 rec 500 yards

We are already almost with in 1000 yards of last years WR production.  Projecting Olsen to finish above his 816 yards receiving total as a potential primary target would leave around 800-900 yards to be found between McNutt/King/Pilares/Clemons/Webb/B.Williams/FAs/Draft Picks.  The situation was never as dire as perceived by many.
