Kenny Britt visiting Carolina

I assume you have something else better to do than to take me seriously? Mikell wasn't even visited until TC lololol

I mean the last receiver we just signed left without a contract....

Could be a really good signing. Could be a horrible signing. That would entirely depend on how Britt acts.

One thing is very clear, though. This is no longer a JR ran team. First, with the handling of Smitty. Now, bringing in someone with a past like Britt (a WR, no less), it's becoming more and more clear that we're looking for value wherever we can find it, and history be damned. (This is weird, though, why we didn't take a flyer on someone like Da'Rick Rogers, but we're willing to sign Britt?)

Agreed that he, Nicks and Sanders were the closest to a #1 WR in this FA class. On a prove it deal, we really just need to surround Cam with weapons, and Britt would be a big target on the outside. I'm not a fan of Britt's personality, but maybe it's just taken him longer to mature after bring benched last season. Most guys with his past go the way of Koren Robinson, Pac Man Jones, and Titus Young, or turn it around like Brandon Marshall and keep their nose clean.

Something went down with Rogers during the pre-draft process. He was projected to be a mid-round talent (with first round talent) but soon after the combine interviews Da'Rick's stock fell hard.

And good. I'm sick of our organization excluding troubled prospects.

He was always considered to be a problem child, and that he would never get drafted before the 5th or 6th round at the earliest. He had tons of legal issues.

I think it is funny when you learn about a team's interest through the player's agent.  Wonder why he might be interested in publicizing even a passing interest in a player?

Britt has been clean for almost 2 years.

However, why would you want a player here who has character issues?  Look at our WRs with character issues:  Carruth, Jarrett, Keyshawn.  Awesome.

If you think Gettlemen is now accepting applicants from players with baggage, and you believe he got rid of Smith for locker room purposes, can you explain the difference?

His agent also says his main priority is playing time...  Which is why I don't think a deal gets done, or possibly even offered.  If it was, it's likely he already would've signed, because he isn't going to get anymore playing time or opportunities than he will here.

The devils advocate in me says Smith could be thrown in with Carolina receivers with "character issues". Gotta be fair.

I thought so too, after the fact.   If Gettlemen saw it that way, I doubt Gettlemen would bring in another "distraction."
