So after all of this crying we may end up better at receiver in 2014 than 2013

I admit it. IF we end up with Djax and Cotchery on the roster this year, I will take back every bad thing I said about Gettleman, swear allegiance to the Getts from this day forth, never doubting for a second a single move/cut/signing he makes, put on 80 pounds and dress up as him for Halloween, complete with FUPA tucked into my gym shorts, with "Baddest Mother Fugger Alive" written on my shirt.

If Cotchery had been in Steve Smith's place all these years, including last year, we would have been lucky to have been in serious contention for anything.  Get a grip.

If the elf's went down the chimney with santa Christmas would be alot cooler...

I'm not talking about Smith's entire body of work.  I'm talking about the Steve Smith of today and with that in mind, there is no comparison.

That's why Smitty was coveted by championship organizations like the Ravens, Pats and Seahawks (among others), and Cotchery is signing with us.  I'm talking about today too, and no one who really is a student of the game is going to equate the Jerricho Cotchery of today, with the Smitty of today.  Cotchery does not command double teams, or anything of the like. IF he did, he would be shut down completely. He is a WR3 with some WR2 upside hopefully at this point in his career. Smitty is still a solid WR2 at 35 that will burn you by being left alone, or taking pressure away from the WR1.  Cotchery had all of 600 yards last year playing with Antonio Brown among others. Steve Smith had 745 yards playing with Brandon LaFell under an offensively-challenged offensive coordinator last year.  You are comparing apples to oranges.  The more appropriate and intellectually honest comparison is to Brandon LaFell.  But, hey, if you want to exclaim with such authority that Cotchery is better than Smith, go right ahead. Just remember what you said during next season.  Smith is in a position where he can shine. Cotchery will hopefully be that solid WR3 that we need.

Cotch had 10 TD's last year.. 8 were in the red zone.   I LOVE SMITTY!!!!  I'm a grown man and cried when they released him.. He's old, he's slow and way past his prime.. That's a fact.  Don't hate on me for an opinion, that's all it is.. Time will tell.

IF we trade for Jackson.  I don't see how we can with that $10.5M base salary.  We'd have to get Hardy extended and designate Godfrey as a June 1st cut to have a chance.

For what it is worth we would only trade for him if we could rework his contract.  You take that 10 million dollar salary this year and some of the next 2 years  and convert it to a signing bonus of lets say 10 million and then you end up with a cap hit of like 5 million. He still gets the money but we get the cap relief. Not hard to do and with the dead cap money and other contracts coming down with the cap going up it could be doable.  I doubt we do it though, but it could be done.
