Jakes Contract not all it appears to be...

In practical terms, Delhomme signed a deal which will pay him $25.5 million the first three years, at which point he'd be close to his 37th birthday and likely near the end of his run as the Panthers starter. The terms are comfortable enough that he could stay beyond that perhaps a year, though too rich to allow him to be a veteran backup in the waning years.

People get too caught up in the numbers. NFL contracts are not structured like MLB. People are upset that we extended his contract but the problem is there is no one better available. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are not going to be on the market. So realisticly he gives us the best chance to win right now. Hopefully Matt Moore will develop. We will see.

 If we had been patient, we could have had Mike Vick!

If we let the Huddle do his contract it would have consisted of... whatever change we can find in our cars, an expired movie pass, a 6 pack of stale Natty Ice and a coupon for "buy 2 get 3 free" bacon from Harris Teeter.

...and that offer would have only come after months of negotiating.
