Cam having ankle surgery tomorrow: Breaking news

This is untimely because we need Cam throwing the ball to see if the young WR prospects are able to catch his passes in real-time. This is a big blow as far as player evaluation goes.

Hoping for a super-successful operation and a speedy recovery.

Worst-case scenario, Derek Anderson starts and gets to break-in the new Sunday starters. Derek killed it in pre-season last year and it brings me great relief that he re-signed.

Cam doesn't need to get the approval of fans for the young wr prospects we have. I am sure gettleman, rivera and cam himself has seen what they can do. Anyway the best time to see what our wr can do is during actua game time which will be the preseason. He will be back in time for training camp which is similar to his first season when he didn't do ota's but just training camp then exploded for multiple 400 yard games during the regular season.

This has nothing to do with my post. I was talking about a little throw n catch between Cam and prospective WR's BEFORE they are drafted or signed...to see if they can actually catch Cam's passes BEFORE we waste a pick on someone that we aren't even sure has the hands to secure Cam's passes at a decent percentage.

That's not how draft wr evaluation goes. No team in the NFL has their qb throw passes to prospective draft prospects pre-draft. They are evaluated based on their college game film and their combine drills.

You know this for a fact, huh? No. NFL franchises have private workouts pretty regularly.

They have private workouts but their qb doesn't do it. Unless you have some proof that teams have their franchise qb try out prospective draft talent.

Private workouts mean the WR comes in and gets the ball thrown to by trainers. They evaluate the player individually.

Do you think it would be a smart move to have your franchise QB there at the evaluation so he can throw the guy some balls to see if his hands can handle his passes? wtf is wrong with some of you people...

This may have been addressed already, but why the heck did we wait until mid-March for the surgery?

My only guess is we wanted to try and let the ankle heal on it's own, and since it didn't this was the latest the surgery could be put off.

Surgery is always the last resort. It wasn't something like a torn ACL. They'll always wait it out first and hope it heals on it's own.

I know Cam was excited about getting to graduated from Auburn this spring. Seeing the surgery is right around the time of spring break that may have been a factor. Maybe he didn't want to delay his final semester?

wtf is wrong with you? This has always been the way the nfl has done it. You don't need to have franchise qbs throw them balls because they are all professionals. They know how to catch a damn football and trainers know how to throw a football.
