Cam having ankle surgery tomorrow: Breaking news

typical over reaction.

Cam does need to earn to throw the ball away

It's not difficult, and it keepsbthe team from losing yardage.

Has nothing to do with the other talent.

If Cam had WR's that could make plays I'm sure he wouldn't feel the need to make something happen every play.

Not trying to add any fuel to the fire, but teams don't use their roster QB's when working out prospects or potential targets in private. They use QB coaches, trainers, jugs machines, and other staff.

But why? Especially when you have a QB with an arm like Cam. I would hate like hellz to draft a kid then find out Cam's throws bounce off his hands.

Just because that is the way it has always been?

I am not saying that every Cam throw is 100mph. But when he zips one into a tight window, I want to KNOW the kid will not let it bounce away.

Or hellz, maybe I am making a mountain out of clay.

If I had to guess I would say because most nfl athletes during this time of year are off of work and so they are enjoying time with friends and family in exotic locations and don't want to be bothered with "work". It may simply be logistically just a pain to get people back.

I also wouldn't be surprised if there is something in the CBA saying that teams can't force players back to facilities for work between feb-ota's.

Just a guess but that's probably not far off from reality.

It's not the same. But there's no need to argue about particulars. Either it's a good idea or it isn't. But I know damn for sure that if I wanted to know what kind of hands a receiver has I'm gonna use every evaluation tool at my disposal.

Lots of times a player won't even dress in pads and sometimes not even a helmet when they are getting evaluated. Dress 'em up and line 'em up and see if they can catch the ball from the man himself.

It's crucial that we get a receiver who can, without any doubt, handle a bullet from Cam...otherwise, there is no point in drafting him. All of our receivers had a hard time holding onto the rock and that's a big reason why we didn't actively pursue re-signing them. If they could catch the ball better, you not only take away half of Cam's interceptions but you have confidence enough to bring them back.

That's not the only reason those guys are gone but it's a legitimate reason, without a doubt. It is crucial that we get these picks right and I just think it would be smart to have Cam working out with them, especially when he is gonna be the guy throwing to and leading these players on the field.

A cannon for an arm can often be a bad thing. Most NFL passes do not require full strength if thrown accurately and on time. Guys with big arms often don't develop that timing and just trust their arms to fit it into windows. A qb should strive to throw a catchable ball, not depend on their receivers to catch rockets thrown from 10 yards away. I'm not saying Cam doesn't or won't learn better touch. I don't think a receiver needs to be judged on his ability to catch a ball thrown far too hard on a regular basis.

Part of me understands what you are saying. But, in today's NFL, it is a 365 days a year job. It is one thing to stay/get in shape. It is another to have your franchise QB throwing to prospects. That said. It kinda makes sense when you have the arm Cam does, to make sure the kids you are looking at can actually hang on to those passes.

I mean, Cam loves the game. I am sure, if asked, he would love to do this. Or maybe I am kidding myself.

Cam made major improvement on his touch passes last year. But...not every pass is a touch pass. I'd say most passes have some heat on them. So it would behoove us, or any team with a strong armed QB, to make sure your WR prospects can handle the heat.

I know it is not done. It is not a normal practice. I am just saying. Why not?

Yes, despite the fact that we possess one of best young defenses in the league (Niners and Seahawks are the other two) and we've yet to surpass the 2014 draft.

Yeah... we're the Cleveland Cavaliers. /sarcasm

Back in 2011 and 2012, I would have somewhat agreed but now that we have a vicious front seven... LOL.

Cavaliers had a great defense and great defensive coach too. Problem was LeBron had no help on offense to take burden off his shoulders. Sound familiar?
