Ginn Replacement?

We said the same thing about Armanti Edwards.

I like Pilares, but there are no guarantees that he even sticks around, let alone becomes a big contributor.

Why not Pilares? He is versatile, knows the Offense, has good speed, and the staff likes him. He has had some success for us. Why can't he build on that?

Let's not forget. He is also a wily vet now. Coming into his third year, just maybe, he is ready to take that next step. Again, why not?

We're entering the final year of our franchise quarterback's contract, and we have basically no receivers with a meaningful catch in the NFL on our roster. No offense intended here, but forgive me if I'd rather not be reduced to talking about the potential of Kealoha Pilares.

Not saying Pilares will amount to anything but Pilares isn't a converted QB who our idiot GM selected that thought would be a great receiver.

Atleast Pilares showed flashes of a receiver and as a return man.

Again we might already have the replacement on our roster Pilares is healthy and fast hope he is ready to step up.

One of Pilares' biggest strengths is something that can't be measured with stats. He has one of the best attitudes of any young player that I've seen in a long time, and he has a tremendous work ethic

Just to refresh your mind here is bio

No matter who comes and who goes Panther Fan Forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pilares directly compares to New England's slot receiver Wes Welker. Pilares is slightly bigger, faster, and stronger than Welker, and Pilares will look to model his career after the Patriots receiver who has overachieved throughout his career by being one of the deadliest slot receivers in the league.

I do not remember....how much has he been in as a receiver?  Is this still potential or has it already been disproved?

My point is our WR corp. is a shambles. I guess I am of the mind that at least one of our WR has at least had some success. With the way folks are freaking out. At least there is 1 WR who has actually done something. It may not be a whole hellofalot. But he has had some successes.

IMHO, things aren't as bad as most would have us believe. We may not duplicate 12-4. But, we aren't going to fall off the map either. Get a starting LT, a couple of decent WR and we are as good as last year. To me, that doesn't seem like such a tall order.

I guess I am one of the few who look for the bright spot. It is far to easy to find something to harp over, especially this year. So, by going against the grain. I can maintain my individuality.

I'll feel better after the draft. Hopefully we can get some big time contributors there.

Even as positive as I try to stay. The thought that the draft is our savior does kinda scare me. I really would prefer at least one FA WR who has had SOME success. As much as I like Pilares, I really don't want to count on him to be our go to guy.

Rookies may struggle. But IMO, most teams don't put them in a position to succeed. They expect the rookies to adapt to their Offense. If you draft a guy who can do certain things well. Design some plays to take advantage of those skills. That doesn't seem to difficult. Or at least to me it doesn't.

Give your rookies some plays to succeed. Build their confidence. Let them taste success. If they have talent, just maybe you can bring it out of them. I know. Naïve.

If you are talking about Pilares. He has had some flashes. Not much more. Although last year he was getting some looks, until he got hurt. The team likes him. I like him. Just maybe, this is the year he puts it all together.

I am more hopeful than anything. Because in all actuality, he has not proven much as a WR. Not bad as a Returner. But basically still an unknown as a WR.

I would rather go after Jacoby Ford... Great speed and is actually a good receiver when he is healthy.. The Raiders kept trying to rush him back to fast and not giving him enough time to heal up..

^^^

yep. plus hester contributes nothing to the offense. he is almost as bad as having someone just for kickoffs...

Drafting one receiver, and having them contribute right away is certainly possible, there have been a few recently to do so. But two, possibly three? Yeah I'd love to see it happen, but it's obviously not very likely. Whether we pick up a veteran receiver in FA now or later, there isn't going to be a huge difference in talent, we're scraping the barrel either way.

We aren't going to bring in a #1WR through FA. We are probably not going to draft one either. So logic dictates. We may not have a #1WR on our roster next year.

If so, we had better hope our corp. can be a collective. The sum is better than the parts kinda thing. I think you can be successful without a true #!. But, I hate the thought of actually having to do so.
