Trade Target: Denarius Moore?

I would do 6th or 7th only. This is a very deep draft. I wouldn't give up a potential contributing 5th round pick that is under a rookie scale contract for 4 years. He is a free agent after this year. We are trying to get out of cap hell. We don't want to continue to handicap ourselves.

If we let Beason go for a 7th. We should be able to get him for a 6th.

His catching ability has improved year over year, last year catching 53% of his attempts (not a great number, but it continues his improvement over the first two years)  It's worth noting that he had Pryor, Mcgloin, etc. throwing him the ball, and a number of his routes were deep balls which have a lower catch rate.

 

He's had Carson Palmer (who was terrible with the Raiders), Terrell Pryor, Matt Flynn, Matt Mcgloin, and Jason Campbell throwing him the ball over the past three years.  None of which are known for throwing an accurate deep ball.

 

He had the same drop percentage at Brandon Lafell last year, but the important piece is that Moore is improving year over year, while Lafell wasn't.  Lafell also had the superior QB.

I wouldn't trade any draft picks for a one year rental and knowing gettleman there is no way he does either. In this draft we could potentially end up with a better wr than him in the 4-7 rounds. Would be a big mistake trading for him

You guys are talking like we can't sign Moore up to a longer term, perhaps even at a virtual discount, which is realistic being Moore's status. Seems to me like that would fit in with G-man's philosophy perfectly. Lastly, 6th and 5th round picks are not locks to make any team, and they certainly are not locks to stay on a team one year removed from being drafted. Sometimes gambling on a one-year rental is very much worth it if the potential is there. It's certainly there with Moore. I know it's tough to make it all the way through a two sentence paragraph.  As I stated, they had the same drop percentage, but Moore's numbers are trending up year over year.  Lafell's aren't.  I.E., one guy is getting better and better...and it's not Lafell.

We got Klein in the fifth round last year, and this draft is supposedly deeper. I wouldn't be against a 5th round pick but I probably try to hold out to day 3 of the draft if I were going fifth round to see what could be had. There has to be some reason he is in the dog house in Oakland.
