Ok, he's not the first to walk through a tough spot, but you are acting like people are defending him like he failed. He didn't fail last year.

We have yet to see if he has failed this year, hense why people should reserve their premature and exaggerative claims about our GM.

Im such a football nerd I was excited for Mitchell's opportunity to produce...knew and watched many games with Mikel..and thought the Ted Ginn signing was similar to when we signed Raghib Ismail in the Seifert days.

Just like i would imagine a Cotchery signing is similar to a Ricky Proehl role on third downs and red zone opportunities.

The Roman Harper signing is like no other signing I ever seen..still mindblown on this one. Roughly 2million a year to suck ass..we coulda just resigned Fua for that.

Gettles has to shake the cap apart so I understand the money aspect...i will reserve judgement on the total roster until training camp but Mikel was signed well after that last season.

Clicked it. Read it. Not everyone one the market it going for big money. Meanwhile, cutting Smitty sure did save us a ton.

I'm not a part of the fan base that wants to jump of a cliff, but I'm certainly not a part of the fan base electing to simply stick their heads up their own asses and pretend it smells like roses.

Nearly 20 million over three seasons is quite a bit, plus team doesn't have the money to sign any one looking for more then 2.5 million a year long term or more then vet min for a one year deal. The Panther's have that little cap space. Cutting smith also obviously had something to do with the locker room and the younger players.

Its only March 17th! We have the draft! We will have other teams cutting players after the Draft! We still have an awesome D! We will be fine! And we will be even better when G-Man fixes this mess!

Let''s be honest, no good WRs will get cut and most rookie WRs take about a year plus to fully understand the playbook.

Of course all that is possible, and it's early, but we were one of the worst passing teams in the league last year and had a lack of offense which really hurt us.  Not only will we maybe be dead last, we also have no one to draw double teams now.  I'm still holding judgement but it's starting to look more grim by the day.

You just said it yourself! We were near the bottom! G-Man cleaned house! I love Smitty as much as the next Panther fan but it is time for a fresh start! And thats what we are about to get! We have bitched for years about Hurneys bad choices at WR. Gman just cleaned out the closet in one week! It may be take a year or 2 but its long overdue! I think the #89 situation should've been done with alot more respect, but it was the right move.

Yeah, how long will the "blame Hurney" line last? Pretty much every new coach or GM in the NFL is inheriting a shitty situation or else the job wouldn't be open. There are notable exceptions like the Niners and Chiefs recently, but they're few and far between. It's not like Dave Gettleman is the first GM in NFL history to walk into a tough spot.

It will last until get get out from under these shitty contracts and get the ship righted. Basically longer than one gucking season.

We have over $20m of dead cap space this year...if you do not understand why Gett is doing what he is based on that fact alone, then tgere really is no help for you.

He has to look out longer than this season. Is everything he is doing going to be the right decision...likely mid. But his strategy is sound to clean up the mess and set up this team fir sustained success.

Anybody who isn't even slightly worried, or concerned about our wr core is an idiot or a complete blind faith homer.

I think things will sort themselves out but I'm anxious still about what we will do THIS year

It's unfair to Cam but that's the way things have played out that allows us to retain cam and keek for the next 10 years

Plenty of examples from last year where rookie wr's put up similar or better numbers then Smith. I think like 10+ with 4 or more td's and like 7 with more catches and yards.

Yeah basically if you disagree with anything Gettleman does in the slightest, you are just an idiot, and don't know anything.

But the same people saying this want to blame Hurney for it when their dog pisses on the rug.

who are these people?  it would be nice to know this collective group....

    • Morgan was a friggin player! A true Middle linebacker.  I'm not overly impressed with his first draft. But I love his free agencies. He's picking good players and giving contracts that don't handicap the team. Also ain't afraid to cut dead weight or disgruntled players. The only questionable move was maybe not getting more for Burns. But I understand that he just wanted to move on without the headache and the distractions once he realized they weren't gonna agree on a contract. They're big on locker room culture.
    • Barron is a good prospect but can you justify it if he ends up basically being a nickel? That seems like a luxury pick for us. Don't hate the player, hate the positional value at 8. Now a trade down option? I am all in.
