eagles not happy with Jackson

To post a background

Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson is reportedly telling friends and teammates that he is concerned about his future in Philadelphia.

Amid talk that Jackson could be on the outs, and after Eagles coach Chip Kelly refused to commit to Jackson, Tim McManus of PhillyMag.com reports that Jackson is troubled by the media reports about his future with the team.

According to the report, Jackson doesn’t know where he stands and has told teammates he is concerned. The Eagles have done nothing to allay Jackson’s concerns, and one unnamed source said the issue is becoming a distraction for Jackson.

Jackson is a very talented playmaker with the ball in his hands and he put up the best numbers of his career in his first season in Kelly’s offense, catching 82 passes for 1,332 yards and nine touchdowns. But the Eagles may think the $10.5 million he’s due to make in 2014 is more than he’s worth.

Hmmmm....imagine that.  A "No Comment" from a GM/Coach about the future of a player has the media running with a story.  Gives evidence that all of the people on here bitching about what Gettleman said....and saying that he should have said no comment....shows that it would not have made a difference with how the Smitty scenario played out.

Looks like the Eagles aren't too happy with wr DeSean Jackson. Don't know if its off-field stuff or something in the locker room, team still owes him 3 years on his current contract. Anyone think he would be a possibility if he's cut? I'm gonna say no simply because we can't afford him.

why wouldn't you want Jackson despite causing locker room problems and us having no money to sign him?

I think Smith future being in question, was a big question. It's still a question as to why he's not here anymore. Smith would have liked to have been told first as the season ended before Gettle made that comment to the media as he should have as much as he's meant to this franchise. I think Gettle is still learning how to deal with players and in the media, we can't forget the Cam thing either. You learn and move on

They're not happy about paying him more than 10 million a year. They can trade them if they want and get a 2th or 3th from Oakland or Jaguars (teams with a lot of cap space).

Someone would trade them a tooth?

No comment is the smart thing to say. It's almost a no win situation, but it's better to say nothing, and allow yourself time to actually speak to the player about the matter at hand, than to make vague inflammatory comments to the media, and make a situation bigger than it needs to be.

saying no comment is like pleading the fifth. you don't say that unless you have something you don't want to say and that leads to maybe more reading between the lines. it's just a matter of whether you want transparency or not. i mean tact is always something to take into account as well, but either way, you know something unpleasant is on the way and the end result is usually the same.
