your question was answered before this post.   Do you even read the responses?

I don't mind casual fans stopping by to ask questions, but not reading the answer and posting more is

annoying.

the replies came in after i refreshed the page... shlow down cletus.

But take the hit this year, pay the penaty 1 time for going over cap. an then we are free next year right?

That hit would be $18.2M this year.  We can't afford to take that hit and still field a team.  2016 is the earliest we can cut Steward and actually save money on the cap.

We might be able to pull of a June 1st cut next year, but he's not going anywhere this year.  That much is certain.

Look, Stewart has spent most of every training camp since he came here riding the Aerodyne on the sidelines, and with heel, toe, ankle issues every year. So, what will happen is the Panthers will release him at some point and he will get a really sweet 3 year deal elsewhere. Why worry about it? Its the Art Modell model that JR admires...always next, year, sell the merchandise, stadium stays sold out, and just about every 4 years, give the fans a taste of winning, then blow up again. Cleveland, Cincinatti, Charlotte.....being mediocre makes them money without high profile free agents, feed from the draft. Love em in, love em out. NFL..Not For Long.  Drink that Kool Aid!!!!

Did the OP really just suggest that we cut Stewart and take an $18M cap hit this year?  Dear Lord.

Sounds like a reasonable plan...let's just have $38M in dead cap space this year....that is only 29% of the total cap.  No problem.
