Why Blame Gettleman?

In some ways, yes.

What makes my hatred for Gettleman continue to grow is the fact he simply refuses to replace players we've lost at WR. We have no wide receivers and he won't offer anyone a contract. Forget Jones or even Cotchery coming here. Jones is far too talented to come here.

By now, I'm convinced Gettleman is just lonely and likes to schedule meetings with players just to shoot the poo, maybe have some dinner and then tell them what team they should play for. We sure know how to pick the worst GMs.

Please list all of the players he added to make a 12-4 team last year in the first week of free agency.

You should definitely hate the man because he's not working at the pace that you would prefer.

I'm not trashing what he did last year. He built a good team last year. Unlike this year.

You should know by now that I'm still mad at him for tagging Hardy and especially for cutting Smith and signing Harper, and I'm not going to be fully logical or unbiased about anything that idiot does until we have a veteran WR who has some talent and has actually caught TD passes before.

Back to my point....had he signed anyone at this point in last year's FA?

So other than Smitty you're mad that he said Nicks wasn't the right fit, didn't overpay Gin or LaFell, and signed a safety who formally played for our rivals?

All great reasons to blame him <sarcasm>

I don't think he had to "overpay" any of them to keep them. And you know that "right fit" crap is just his way of saying he wasn't going to give him his one year prove it deal like the Colts did.

You did see the contracts they got, right? Would you have liked it if the Panthers had offered the same contract?

Didn't Nicks and GMan both say that there was an offer to Nicks but that ultimately Indy was a better fit?  It's not always a conspiracy.

He already had Steve Smith and Brandon LaFell...they hadn't left, and yes he signed Ted Ginn not long after FA started.

Ginn was a week two signing.  He was a guy who had two catches the previous year.  It's not like people were busting his door down to sign him.

If you're mad that LaFell is gone then I think we've found the root of the disconnect between what's happening and what you think should be happening.

I believe it was reported to be a multiyear deal that Gettleman offered. I'm not going to sit here and pretend I know contracts, but if Belichick was willing to pay it then I believe it to be a fair deal.

If you'd rather have what we have now than have what we have and have LaFell too, I can't help you there.

Also, we're in week two of FA now.

I would rather have NFL-caliber players at every position. LaFell is a good No. 3 receiver. Our roster right now has no good No. 5 receiver. That is a problem when most of the talent has already been signed, and Mr. No-Contract-Offers seems to be alright with hoping every untested player turns into Victor Cruz.

I'm not alright with that. I would like some veteran presence at a key position. This franchise is sending Cam a terrible message, and for some reason quite a few people can't see that.

I didn't hear that it was a multi-year.

Belichick?  You mean the coach of the Patriots?

The reports I read before he signed with the Colts is that a multiyear deal was on the table here for around 4.5 per year. Yea Belichick also handles their football operations

This also goes into a bigger problem. Players don't want to sign here. You think Munnerlyn was just bluffing when he said "long story"? He wasn't.

How many other teams have so many players retire or leave after going 12-4? Multiple teams find ways to keep at least some of those guys when they're cap-strapped, not take them to lunch and tell them where to leave, or if they've contributed to the team for more than a decade, treat the situation like a promiscuous 16-year-old and have them find out the hard way.

You post sums up what I don't understand about all you people in the freak-out frenzy.

It's the first day of the second week of FA and the reports are that Cotchery is coming to visit and they're talking to Jones.  What the heck is the problem?  There are still other FA WRs available, too.

You can't help?  If you're settling for LaFell as your #3 receiver then it's you that really needs some help, my man. I have higher expectations for a #3 receiver than what he offers.

What is the message they're sending Cam?  I'd love to hear your take on that.

The man is dealing with cap hell, hasn't overpaid any mediocre players, signed Hardy, signed a few role players, kept our core intact, and is only it's only the beginning of the second week of free agency and there are still plenty of players to target.  He told us at the end of the season what free agency was going to look like.  Did you not pay attention?  Why are you surprised now?

It all boils down to have YOU (the fans) think it should have been done differently and I still haven't seen anyone post what moves should have been made that weren't.  Why can't you guys understand that 1) FA is far from over and 2) the front office knows a LOT more than you?
