Amini to LT ?

Id like to hear if any of our o line gurus think Amini could slide over to LT and do well there,

Didnt Amini play LT in college?

 

Im just wondering if it might be easier / cheaper to find new guard than a tackle.

He was a tackle in college and definitely has the athleticism to play LT. I don't think it'll necessarily happen but it gives us flexibility to take BPA linemen in the draft.  We can take an extra guard or two and possibly kick amini out to tackle.

Man, I can't believe this hasn't crossed my mind before.  They will probably try Nate Chandler at LT this year.  After all, he did start out last year as a back up tackle.

A lot of OL were LTs in college.  Wharton, G. Williams, Silatolu, etc. 

 

I do not think Wharton is the answer.  I don't think we have the answer on our roster.  We will.

My biggest concern with Amini is him staying healthy

You guys are talking crazy! You know good and well that we'll draft our starting LT in the 3rd round from some obscure Div 2 team, because the kid has "good footwork, and is a hog Molly"

And why is that? He tore his acl last year...doesn't really mean you are injury prone.

He'd be better than bell, but not something you'd want to happen. Amini is built to be a guard, he's physical at the attack and his power comes off the snap.

The LT position needs to have finesse, and ability to pass block effectively and adjust. Amini is a run blocker.
