Not being able to bring in the free agents we've been targeting. I don't think we simply let Ginn and Lafell walk like some of you believe. They left.

 

Then send Hurney some hate mail and tweet insults to Jonathan Stewart. but blaming Gettlemen is nothing but a head scratcher.  I really don't think the people bashing him understand what Hurney did to the books.

Pass rush is generally created from the inside out in a 43 defense. We have the talent on the inside to free up the guys on the outside. At least, enough to where we don't have to spend 60% of our cap space on that position.

While that's not really true, Hardy had a very good season when we signed dwan Edwards, who helped tremendously.

I wasn't really trying to slight Hardy, I just think that tagging him has a good chance of blowing up in their faces. If they don't get a deal done by next year, it was a colossal waste of time and money to rent him for one year at the cost of filling other positions. Would there be a drop-off on the line if he left? Sure. If he has a great year, he will still want a huge payday in a year that other huge contracts are going to have to be done. If he has a bad year, then he just made millions at the expense of the team as a whole.

I think he slapped the tag on Hardy thinking a long-term deal would be easy to reach and that we wouldn't be THIS cap strapped this year.  Meanwhile, Hardy is plenty happy playing for $13.1M and I think he'll just ride it out and be a free agent again next year.

I was reading this article about Nicks and it seams to suggest that Gettleman encouraged him to sign with the Colts.

"After talking to Gettleman, I think he agreed that this was the best situation for me, too, even though they made the offer. Like I said, I feel like I made the best decision and I'm ready to make the best of it."
