Nope, but Gettleman needs to find a way to stop the bleeding. Having players question your lack of activity isn't ideal, no matter the endgame.

There is some substance behind questioning Gettlemans moves so far. Multiple media outlets are wondering what the hell is going in the FO in Charlotte. ESPN, NFLN, Bleacher Report,etc...

I'm still a wait and see kind of guy. I think most of the Huddle panic is based on the Smith/Nix nonmove and now everything Gettleman does or doesn't do is viewed with suspicion.

You can't really blame people on either side of the argument except those that spout nonsense in order to provoke an argument.

If he made a move just to appease players, I'd be disappointed.

You do what you think is best for the team. Media analysis, guys whining because we didn't overpay them and fans throwing tantrums because we didn't sign everybody in sight...all are meaningless.

Only Gettleman and Smith know the truth about how this went down. What the organization wants the fans to believe and what really happened, can be two totally different things.

 

I personally believe a lot of it came down to Cam Newton. I'm not saying Cam wanted Smith gone (far from it) but this organization wants Cam to be the face of the franchise like a Payton Manning and it's leader too. That wasn't going to happen with Smith around who had become the face of the franchise and the life and blood of the team, more than a young promising QB who is still trying to figure himself out. Smith had to go and Cam needed a chance to step up and become the new Smith.

 

From a business perspective, if what I'm saying is true, I totally get it even though I'm miss Smith as a fan.

Whoever said most NFL fans in North Carolina are Panthers fans? The majority I know are Skins fans, outside of the Charlotte area. The Skins fans wanted Hardy and Ware and didn't get either. I'd be pissed too. :)

Deciding Nicks wasn't the right fit had nothing to do with tagging Hardy....or the other way around.

Ok Gettelman has a built in excuse if the team loses this season.

So nobody should panic or be concern about the situation we're in right now.

I think he underestimated his Steve Smith comment and the resulting drama as well as other teams willingness to overpay for our players
