It was odd he signed immediately. Usually guys who are tagged dont sign the tender until the last possible moment, sometimes even after most offseason practice sessions.

Gettlemen said he would have all positions covered going into the draft so he could take BPA--that is a bit of a stretch,in my opinion, but I get the idea.

If this is referring to Nicks, I can say this: Gettlemen was very aware of his issues.  I have heard that we never offered, just discussed terms.  Nicks probably did not like what he heard, but Gettlemen was not going to overpay for a player who has an injury history, missed meetings, and has not put up good numbers for 2 years.   The Colts could assume the risk with a few other players-maybe we could not at the price he was demanding.  Not signing him is better than signing him and he continues his recent behavior and play.

The old players are used to Hurney showing up at negotiations wearing a white beard, red suit, and handing out lucrative contracts to all the good little boys.  Gettlemen is refusing to pay steep prices for mediocre talent.  Capt. was overpaid in Minnesota, but I bet he doesn't think so.

Good God this opinion is so stupid. This is not summer camp. Players don't chose destinations sign based on whether or not veteran players are cut. Players still do want to play for the panthers.

You know something. Lastnight I really gave more thought and think Gettleman is making the right moves.

Steve Smith-Clearly lost a step, a fight picking diva (you know its true) and on the wrong side of 35.. 35!

Munnerlyn-Below average corner that dropped some real easy interceptions btw, easily replaceable.

O line-Yes Gross is solid, but he is aging as well. The rest of the O line that left are JAGs and easily replaceable.

Mitchell-This one hurts, had a terrific season last year but Harper will fill some of that void and our front 7 remains so no big worries there.

Ginn- This is the one situation I say Gman messed up. Ginn was a difference maker.

Hixon and Lafell-meh, easily replaceable.

All in all, I dont see what the big fuss is. People forget the huge drops Smitty had, his lost speed and his knack for missing a lot of easy 1st downs. Reading reactions you would think we traded Cam and Keek for late round picks or something. How many times have we complained about Munnerlyn? Our crappy O line. Remember, it was our D that was the star of the show, and our D is still intact. Our O was ranked in the high 20s and people act shocked Gman is rebuilding it?!

Well you can read tweets from all Panthers players who are on the roster or who were on the rosters last season. This is a bad situation for player morale and most if not all of them are ready to jump ship when they get the chance. And it is all centered around Gettleman.

 

Captain, Smitty, Greg Olsen, Thomas Davis, D Will, J Stew... social media is a window into the players emotions about the situation. The biggest one imo is Greg Hardy who tweets all the time has been silent since the Steve Smith debacle. Bet he is pissed.
