Continuity for Cam?

The reason we allowed the free agents to test the market was so we could judge what they were worth before either trying to resign them or letting them go. No one was throwing them out, Gettleman just felt that for their production they were not worth the price that other teams were willing to pay. Ginn was actually the only one I think we will miss and that is only because Cam was one of the only QBs with the arm to actually throw it so deep that Ginn could get it. But is a number 3 guy worth almost 4 million a year? And how many did he have right in his hands that he flat out dropped.

We surely won't miss Hixon or Lafell. Hasn't everyone been begging for us to find someone to replace Smitty for years through the draft? This year we will.

Last year at this time we had Smitty and Lafell, that was it. We picked up HIxon and Ginn after the big excitement died down and will do the same this year. Last year we did nothing in the draft at receiver and this year we will. So the end result will be a mix of veterans and rookies that will be fine in the long run.

What did it say about McNutt this year? He has a ways to go before he will be ready to contribute big time. He will be better this year but he won't be the number 1 threat or even the number 2. Hopefully he develops and becomes a contributor this year and if he is going to start it will most likely be next year at the earliest.

No we also had Gettis, Adams, Pilares, and AE. It's easy to laugh at those names now, but those were guys we thought could make a difference. Just like King and Mcnutt now.

Who is out there? Maybe I'm missing the names. Only guy left really is James Jones is he that much better than Lafell?

There are still guys out there.  How many do you think we need?  1 or 2?

You don't think we can replace LaFells production as well as Ginn's??

I think we might try guys like Damian Williams or Joe Morgan who are young guys who have been in the league for a few years and ready to break out without breaking the bank.  After all how many catches did Ginn have before coming here.

Ginn was a first round pick that had underachieved up until last year.

So this year we have Pilares, King, McNutt, Webb, Clemons, and Bersin.  And we will bring in a few vets as well and likely draft a guy or two likely meaning we will be ready to go I hope with younger guys we can build around.  I have faith in Proehl to develop a few of these guys.  Sometimes you have to get thrown in there in order to see what you got.  If you only go with vets the young guys never see the field.

Are we so sure GMan wants Cam? I must say it sure is odd what's going on. Our receiving corp wasn't much to brag about but getting rid of everyone and replacing them with no one is a head scratcher.

So far everything has gone exactly the way rr and dg have been preaching since theyve hooked up. Building through the draft, bargain bin FAs, answer sometimes already on the roster, things going to change around here, etc.

I highly doubt dg wouldnt want cam. "Big men win football games." Cam is as big as you can get. The nygiants gave eli an enormous contract before he even sniffed success. Why? Because elis failings were caused by the players around him. They got eli a bargain bin oline of vets that meshed well, drafted weapons and a dominant dline.

We have most of those pieces in place already.

So your point is that he had all that talent and just now showed it??  Or maybe Cam as a quarterback and Proehl as a wide receiver coach got the most out of him?  So why can't they do the same with other guys or are only first rounders going to make it??

You can't compare those other guys go Ginn's potential. He wasn't an unknown

Underachieved is too much credit. Ginn was a certified bust aside from being a return man. No other team would even talk to him. We saw something other teams didnt, and we got a solid contributor. Just gotta do it year in year out.

And you are a half empty kind of guy.  I don't need convincing as I haven't made up my mind yet.  I just point out what is there and watch as he continues to build the team.  I wish more folks like you did as well.  There will be plenty of time for complaining down the road without filling up the offseason as well.  If you can't be optimistic now then you surely won't later on either.

Ginn was a bust who was all but washed up in the league as a receiver.  As a return specialist nothing more.  Without his year with us he would be still be waiting to be signed by anyone like last year.

Who would have thought Ginn would have turned out good for us, considering he didn't see the field on offense for two years with the 49ers. Do you look these guys ratings up on madden or something?

Also, there are still cuts to be made. We could snag a good veteran in the up coming weeks.
