West Texas A&M

Nathan Slaughter, WR (5-8 7/8, 184) — Slaughter — who is described as having a great build (as in, he’s “buff”) — ran the 40 in 4.35 and 4.38 seconds. He had a 44 1/2-inch vertical and 10-6 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.27 seconds and the three-cone in 6.93 seconds. He performed 16 lifts on the bench press. Slaughter is described as a straight-line runner, but is also a great threat as a return specialist. Slaughter could be a priority free-agent pickup following the 2014 NFL Draft.

Colt Lyerla, TE, Oregon

This guy is a monster in all phases of the game. He can even line up as a power back. Him and Tolbert split in the backfield would be scary. Unfortunately, Colt has some off-field issues. He was arrested on drug possession and then left the team. This, along with a mixed combine performance, is why he will drop out of the draft. Would be a low-risk, high-reward signing.

For CBS he is still a 6th/7th

With such a draft round i would rather pick Ted Bolser.

He was in my first mock back in January.  He is as good physically as he is bad mentally.  He might be worth a late round flyer, but it could be a pick just thrown away also.

Someone like SF who now still has 11 picks, can use one of theirs with little consequences if he bombs

John Brown of Pittsburg State brings NFL intrigue

Posted: March 21st, 2014 | Gil Brandt | Tags: Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, John Brown, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburg State

Wide receiver John Brown drew representatives from seven NFL teams — including a wide receivers coach from the New Orleans Saints, and special teams coaches from the Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts — to Pittsburg State’s pro day in Pittsburg, Kansas, on March 18.

The workout was held outdoors and run on FieldTurf. The weather conditions featured 20-30 mile per hour wind gusts, 50-degree temperatures and sunshine.

Brown (5-foot-10, 172 pounds) stood on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine, which were impressive (he posted the second-fastest 40-yard dash time4.34 seconds — among wide receivers). Brown — who has 8 1/8-inch hands — did do eight lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press at Pittsburg State’s pro day, however, after not doing the bench in Indianapolis.

Brown — who originally went to Mars Hill and then had a stop at Coffeyville Community College before attending Pittsburg State — ran routes in receiving drills conducted by the Saints’ assistant coach. He then caught punts from a JUGS machine. The Bengals special teams coach challenged Brown to catch the punts one-handed from the JUGS machine while at the same time throw a ball in the air and catch it with the other hand.

Brown — because of his speed and ability to run back punts — is one of these type of prospects that an NFL team will take a chance on in the later rounds if they have an extra selection.

Would like to see us trade our first rd selection for another teams second rd selection and swap 3rd rd positions with the same team. We could select Jared Abberederis WR,Wisconsin with their higher 2nd rd pick and be in a better position in the 3rd for the position selection of our choice.   .

Wisconsin_logo.gif Jared Abbrederis, WR, Wisconsin
Height: 6-0. Weight: 189.
Projected 40 Time: 4.41.
Projected Round (2014): 2-4.

2/22/14: Abbrederis was excellent in 2013. He produced despite spotty quarterback play and the Badgers' inclination to run the ball. There were a lot of plays that Abbrederis was wide open for long touchdowns, but passes weren't delivered due to subpar quarterback play. For the year, Abbrederis made 78 catches for 1,081 yards with seven touchdowns. He torched Bradley Roby and Ohio State for 10 receptions, 207 yards and a touchdown.

Abbrederis is a phenomenal route-runner and is in the running as the best route-runner in the 2014 NFL Draft. He had a strong week of practice at the Senior Bowl.

I'm a fan of Fresno St's TE Marcel Jensen. He's projected to go in the 7th round in most mocks but could easily fall out and go undrafted. He's a bigger TE (6'6 260) who had a slower 40 time (4.85) and 3 cone drill at the combine but he looked fluid running and good in the catching drills. He's obviously a project/development player but he'd be a good blocker for our running game taking Hartsock's spot if he could beat out THE Mike McNeil (lol) and he has a ridiculous catch radius as he had the longest arms of all the TE's at the combine. Carr didn't really use his TE's in that pass happy offense and wasn't asked to do much so his stats don't wow but I would definitely take a flier on this kid. A 6'6 TE with 35" Arms and a 35" vertical too = a damn good red zone threat to me imo

I pied him just for using the phrase "catch radius".

The people who post in the draft forum generally know about 5 times as much about prospects and the draft process in general, than the yahoos that post draft stuff in the main forum.
