Harper is a Solid Signing

It's like magic you can pull for players and teams. Maybe if the teams didn't tell us the players names and they only had numbers to ID them then we could limit our fandom to a team.

you can pull for players and teams as long as the players are on the team

when that changes is what we are talking about.

you're backing up we are waiting on you.You pull for players. You pull for a team. The two do not have to be together but it makes it that much better if they are. I know you don't understand this. back in the day you pulled for a team almost exclusively because most of the players stayed on teams for their whole career but times have changed.now they move around so much you can pull for a team and players separately.

I don't know maybe cuz ranked 87th out of 88 in 2012 by PFF... Last year was better but damn the saints gave 2 fugs about him...they drafted vaccaro last year and broke the bank for Byrd this year.

If it was vet minimum that'd be one thing or maybe if we had a LT or a receive me on the team that wouldn't hurt either

I don't think he fits Ryan's scheme.  Typically the Ryan's want to be able to blitz and leave the corners on islands when they can.  We're the opposite.  We rely on the rush so we can utilize more in coverage.  He might be in better position to utilize his strengths with us..

I understand his past with our franchise and you guys may not like him, but he's a solid SS and with our front 7 in front of him, I expect that he will keep our secondary in check. I really don't see how it's the terrible signing some of you are making it out to be.

I like it.  Hope he can play WR too.

Harper in 38 pass rush plays - 0 sacks

Mitchell in 25 pass rush plays - 4 sacks

Mikell in 27 pass rush plays - 3 sacks

Harper in 283 pass cover plays - 255 yards allowed, 11.1 avg per catch allowed

Mitchell in 689 pass cover plays - 250 yards allowed, 8.6 avg per catch allowed

Mikell in 424 pass cover plays - 271 yards allowed, 11.8 avg per catch allowed

Two different schemes. Harper will thrive in our defense. He is a solid vet and will be as good as or better than Mitchell in our defense.

Mitchell didn't come to us as a top level free agent. He came to use because he had the tools to play the position as McDermott wanted. I have no doubt that Harper will do as good if not better.

Panthers sign S Roman Harper (2 years, $4.5M; $1.5M guaranteed): B- Grade
Roman Harper has struggled in coverage the past few seasons, but he can still be effective in run support. He's definitely a downgrade from the safeties Carolina started last year, but the Panthers don't have much of an alternative, given their cap situation. This amount of money is about right for Harper, who turns 32 in December. He'll ideally be a backup or a situational player, but that may not be an option for Carolina, given its financial situation.

I'm sure Rivera has input on this signing. As far as football knowledge goes...

Rivera's morning poo > entire huddle
