Harper is a Solid Signing

He's low character when he's on another team, but when he's on your favorite team he'll be a "fiery competitor." If Steve Smith, wasn't ever a Panther, most of us would probably loathe him.

I would think pretty lowly of Smith if he took money to hurt other players.

I swear, sometimes I think half this board are Steve Smith fans and not Panthers fans.

That's because Steve Smith has always been more than a player to the Panthers. No one mentioned the Panthers without mentioning Steve Smith. But for the record, I'm both; a Carolina Panther fan and a Steve Smith fan. But to be honest, this is the only time I felt like I wanted to throw in the towel on my team.

That's it. You don't have anything positive or anything not annoying to say. Welcome to my ignore list

And you completely ignore facts posted within each thread, and then state the opposite.

At least try a little harder.

It's a great signing. He is better than Mitchell. Great tackler and great at getting to the QB. He is a Panther now and fans need to start backing him not bashing him because he used to be a saint.

He's nowhere near better than Mitchell. Mitchell is younger, faster, a better tackler, and better in coverage. Mitchell also has the ability to get the to QB, which was Harper's one good attribute, but apparently that's rapidly faded.

Harper in 38 pass rush plays - 0 sacks

Mitchell in 25 pass rush plays - 4 sacks

Mikell in 27 pass rush plays - 3 sacks

Harper in 283 pass cover plays - 255 yards allowed, 11.1 avg per catch allowed

Don't ever pretend to be a harper fan when in our style of defense he is playing great. Don't jump on board then

Mitchell in 689 pass cover plays - 250 yards allowed, 8.6 avg per catch allowed

Mikell in 424 pass cover plays - 271 yards allowed, 11.8 avg per catch allowed

I don't know maybe cuz ranked 87th out of 88 in 2012 by PFF... Last year was better but damn the saints gave 2 fugs about him...they drafted vac caro last year and broke the bank for Byrd this year.

If was vet minimum that'd be one thing or maybe if we had a LT or a receive me on the team that wouldn't hurt either

Actually, if you take the signing bonus out. He is only making 50% over minimum. So he ain't that expensive.

    • He's turned into quite a gunslinger
    • Hey guys, remember when we won those meaningless games in 2010 and it cost us the #1 pick and the chance to draft Cam? Oh.... right I get that's more of an extreme example because it got us a HOF caliber QB.  But it's the general concept, you want to win late season games when you have the pieces in place to make a run the next season, we currently are not in that place. Herbert and Sewell are the ones I point to so much, because we literally lost out on 2 franchise different makers by 1 draft slot.  Give us those two players while we still have CMC, Moore, and the rest of the picks we gave up for Bryce, and we'd have been a legit playoff contender the last few years. Draft position matters in the NFL more than any other sport (other than the #1 pick in the NBA in a year with a generational talent).
    • It’s so crazy. If we had a shot for pick 1 and there was some generational player there then yeah maybe I could get behind the draft position argument. I’d say most GMs and coaches aren’t diving into the draft right now. They are trying to win games.
